Default Cross-Post: Pertinent Movie

I am posting this in a few places because I think it might be helpful to various groups.

Tonight ABC is showing the movie 28 Days. Sandra Bullock plays an alcoholic who is ordered to rehab after an episode of destructive behavior. I highly recommend it. Why, you might ask? As I've gone through this process of losing a lifetime of obesity, I've found many many parallels between my situation and that of addicts. If you struggle with compulsive overeating, I think this movie has a lot to say that will hit home. I found I could lift phrases and entire chunks of dialog, just replacing the word "alcohol" with "food" and it was a little disturbing how much I identified.

I completely agree, this is definitely a food addiction for me, and it's a disease that I believe I can never be "cured" of. I'm just thankful that I've learned to manage my disease now, and I'm learning to live with it, and in spite of it every day. Very good recommendation Funniegrrl, I think others may be very surprised to see just how many parallels there really are.
