Question Stuck on plateau

Help! I have been on the South Beach Diet for about 3 months. Did really well on the first phase. Lost 18 lbs. Have been on phase 2 for over two months and cannot lose even 1 more pound. I need some help. How can I jump start my metabolisim?

Um.

Maybe you need to be on a different diet?

Do you exercise regularly? As in, every single day for at least a half hour? That will help your body to use up the fat it has in storage.

What about portion control? For a run down on actual portion sizes check here:
http://www.usda.gov/cnpp/Pubs/Brochures/index.html#Much

Look for the "How Much Are You Eating" brochure, which will download as a pdf.

Also, when was the last time you had a full and complete physical, paying special attention to anything that may interfere with weightloss (such as thyroid malfunction)?

Lift weights! Adding muscle tone will raise your metabolism. I was on a 4 month plateau and then after lifting I saw some creep off again.

How many servings of carbs are you eating per day? I did very well in phase 1 but slowed down considerably in phase 2. You should post your menus in the SBD forum and ask for feedback on what you might be doing wrong. If you can give a sample of 3 days or so, that would be good.

Switch up your workouts, cut a few more calories. Eat spicy food, drink some coffee!
