nftm I hear you on feeling like a bloated mess, it is such an uncomfortable feeling!! My TOM is winding down, so I am hopeful that if I drink extra water today that I will feel better tomorrow.
I am glad that you like calorie counting!!! Yay on getting to the 178's!! I hope that the scale goes back down for you by tomorrow, but if not I am sure you will be getting a post TOM whoosh!!
I don't know about you but I am glad not to have any occasions with cake for a few more months. I didn't even like cake until a couple years ago!! As I am typing this I realized that my hubby's bday is about 3 weeks away. I am no good with moderation, if I am going to go off plan I go OFF plan!
Oh I hear you there. I thought that what I ate yesterday wasn't that bad... I decided to log everything to the best of my memory. I ended up eating on top of my 1600 calorie limit, an excess of over 1500 calories. WOW! So that makes me realize that I really need to be careful and pay attention. I also need to drink my water because it helps me not to snack and be hungry. Lesson learned!
nftm I did the same thing on Monday! By the time I put my food in MFP I was a good 200 calories over what I thought I was at. I drank a lot of water yesterday and plan to do the same, it helps so much! I hope that your weigh in goes well this morning!
I weighed in at 179.4. All I can say is at least I am in the 170's. I know my period is playing heck with my weight right now. Hopefully next week after my period and the bloat has gone away, the scale will be more favorable.
I need to up my water intake. I drank water yesterday, but not enough.
Question, do you save your calories for a day in the week where you can splurge?
That is awesome that even with your period bloat you are in the 170's! I bet you will have a nice whoosh next week!!
It was a huge struggle for me to up my water intake. The taste gets very boring after a while and I hate having to run to the restroom every hour, but I can totally tell on the scale the morning after I drank alot!
I don't usually save calories, but that is a really good idea! I have been throwing around the idea of having a cheat meal once a week, I cant do the whole day or else I spend the entire week making up for it. We usually go out to breakfast on Saturdays and I have been ordering what I want and then eating lighter for the rest of the day, but I think I like the idea of cutting back a bit during the week instead!
slimmerme We are!! How did you decide on your goal? I have been thinking about that a lot lately, I am not sure if 140 will be a low enough weight for me - I think I will still have too much body fat at that point. I still have 30 to go to get there, so I guess I will play it by ear? I am sorry if I already asked you this... what are you doing to lose the weight, are you following a plan like calorie counting? You are sooo close to the 160's!!
NFTM how have you been?
171.2 today. I slept in very late so I think it would have been higher had I weighed in at my normal time.
Actually, I just changed my goal to 125. This is my “ideal” goal,
but is ambitious. I chose 140 as a realistic goal, as it is about BMI 24, so within normal weight.
To be honest, I will be fairly happy to get to 140, merely not overweight. But 125 would be wonderful.
I am a strong advocate of intermittent fasting, and eat one meal a day - dinner. Rather than having meager breakfast, scimpy lunch, and diet dinner, I have a good healthful dinner with moderate protein, moderate fat and plenty of low starch vegetables. I try to avoid sugar and carbs. This ends up being fairly low calorie, but I don’t count calories.
slimmerme I am so curious to see what I will look like at 140, I haven't been working out so I am very flabby. I do plan on changing that to see if that helps. I am in a size 10 pants and medium tops, which seems small to me, but without clothes, I look very fat.
I have been doing IF with an 8 hour eating window. I LOVE it!! I feel full pretty much all day long. I struggle with the urge to eat still, but that comes and goes. OMAD is very interesting to me! Do you drink coffee with creamer, or anything before your dinner? Do you feel hungry during the morning/afternoon? As it is now, I wake up at 5am and go to bed around 8:30pm. I drink coffee with creamer at 6:45 and then I eat breakfast at 9:30, lunch at 12:30, a snack around 2 and dinner around 4:30.
I would love to be in the 120's!!! After I get close to 140 I am going to shift my focus to getting my body fat percentage down to the low 20's.
179.2 this morning. My weight had shot up to 181 on Friday, so I am happy to see a number in the 170's. Hopefully it keeps dropping now that Aunt Flo has left.
NFTM Hey!! How was your weekend? I am glad that you are back in the 170's!!
I have such a difficult time staying on plan with my food choices during the weekend. I did get in a couple workouts and did a good job with drinking water, but ate out 3 times and had desert twice. All the work I put in during the week gets negated by weekend.
That's sort of my issue too, except it's evening snacking. I do great during the day, but at night I want to eat everything. I also forget to log what I am eating so I'm not really sure where I am on calories by the end of the day. I have also been really bad about drinking water. I think that's because I have been so tired the past couple of days that I just want to drink coffee. But I know if I drink water, it keeps my appetite in check and helps the weight loss process. It seems like the 170's are really a struggle to get out of.
My plan is to genuinely have only one meal a day. In the morning I have black coffee, then during the day have just water or unsweetened ice tea.
For dinner I have the main protein course, vegetable or salad or both, and no starch (bread, potatoes or pasta). I have one or two glasses of wine.
For me hunger is more psychological than physiological, so I have no trouble with one meal a day.
Yesterday was my mother’s 96th birthday, so I hosted a brunch for her. This means I not only had 2 meals, but for brunch I had 3/4 of a pastry in addition to salad.
Today I am up a pound to 170.6, but I’m not going to regret the brunch.
If you are interested in OMAD, you can try having just coffee for breakfast, and just have lunch and dinner, and when your body has adjusted, then ease out of lunch. Your body is used to three meals a day, but it can adapt. For most of human history people had one or two meals a day if they were very fortunate; three meals a day plus two snacks is a very recent thing.
