Cheat day/weekend NOT worth it!

  • I have been on the "straight and narrow" sinc3 11/17. NOTHING could make me fall off the diet wagon, EXCEPT my two day trip to Boston at Christmas. Had pizza, pasta, cheese, bagels, martinis and beer. Well friends, Friday before I left I was 212.5. This AM I was 217.2! yep, I know it is all temporary weight, but still it devastates me! I am back on the old wagon, and pushing hard now until I need to go away on business the week of 02/09. I hope to be able to formulate a meal plan for that trip. Although I should be down another 20 pounds by then, I do not liek how I fell now, versus the the momentary satisfaction I had over the weekend. Thank God I was not able to eat the quantities I used to eat, and only had about 1/3 of what I would have eaten earlier. Come on all, the cheat day is NOT worth it!
  • It will be OK. I had a Thanksgiving meal on Wed and Thursday this year. Then 3 day vacation eating out every meal. And some huge meals.

I was up 6 pounds on the Monday and Tuesday. Up like 3 on Wednesday. Then back to starting point on the Thursday or Friday. It IS mostly water weight. That being said I think trip planning is awesome.
  • Most likely water weight. Try cutting the salt intake upping your water and doing mainly raw for two days or so. I went on vacation with friends to 9 days tried my best but got outta hand. And we walked A LOT all over Paris hours everyday. But nope, weighted in when I got back and I packed on ten pounds.
  • I have a cheat day every single week, and for me, it certainly is worth it. What works for some doesn't always work for others, so to say it doesn't work for you is fair, but to say "Come on all, the cheat day is NOT worth it," well, that simply isn't true for everyone. We are individuals.
  • I have good success with two reward meals a week. What I can't get away with is a week off plan. If I go on vacation for a week, and eat a lot of carbs and simple sugars, such as donuts etc, I may gain weight that sticks with me. A weekend off plan is fixable, but may take three weeks of strict on-plan eating afterwards to lose the weight.

    Everyone IS different.
  • Hang in there, you'll bounce back very quickly! It is always good to figure out what works best for YOU, and now you know. Maybe limit yourself to one single special meal during your next trip and see how that works for you!
