My goal right now is 175. I don't know why. I have a large frame though (wide shoulders). It's the upper end of my normal BMI. If I'm happy when I get there than fine. I think it could be cool to get down to 160, and gain lean muscle to 175. I need more muscle on my frame. Trying to preserve what I have now. 175 just seems like a sustainable number to me. I'm a us14 now. I'm about a size US12 in the mid 180's so maybe I'll be a 10 (8 with more muscle) at goal. That's a great size for me.

Another 5'3 height here. I chose my goal based on BMI. I am at 141/ sz 8 now and barely in a healthy weight range. My goal is to try not to lose much more, but gain a bit of muscle. I think that would suit me best.

I chose 150 because it would put me right at losing half my weight from when I started (not from my highest, that had been during a previous round of losing weight) and at almost 5'10 it put me pretty much right in the middle of healthy on the bmi chart. either way I figured I would stop when I felt it was right be it before or after 150.

I've recently discovered I am just shy of 5'9 instead of 5'10 so I have been toying with the idea of lowering it to 140 but I think I will get to Onederland at the very least before making any decisions.

I'm old, 53, 5'5". Chose 140. Currently running around 137/138. It's not been an issue to maintain, I feel good, and look good all things considered.

I actually could lose another 5#'s, that is hanging on my belly, butt and inner thighs, but, I just don't see that happening. I think it would be to tough to maintain.

So, in my opinion, it's arbitrary and relative. To a lot of things. Body composition, lifestyle, general health, and so on.

When you get to the weight you picked out, you can always evaluate and adjust if needed. Or just hang with that for awhile and see how it's going.
