Smile Just curious

Hi, i'm 22 and I have around 100 pounds to lose and i know everyone is different but for those out there who have successfully managed to lose around the same amount, how long did it take generally? Right now i've just started the pink method and i'm on day 6 of the reset, the first 3 days i lost 3 pounds but i haven't weighed since due to TOM, going to wait until after. I just want to try and set a reasonable date to reach my goal weight by, but i have never really tried to lose this much weight before so any idea would be helpful

I've lost between 95 and 100 pounds since December 2011. 1-2 pounds a week loss average, 0 a week several several times, more than 2 a few times. The last pounds are the hardest and typically take the longest of course.

You might want to start with some smaller goes first. Then go for the bigger goal.

By making each small goal, it might help you stay on track.

Well I am not on Tom or any diet plan. I lost 33 pounds from June to August 30th of 2012 without working-out. However, I did do a 500 calorie a day in the beginning. From Aug 30th until today I lost 82 pounds with eating right and working-out! I lost a total of 115 pounds in about 8 months.

Best of luck to you!

I've lost 90+ since April 2011. Maybe if I didn't have PCOS things might have gone quicker but I'll never know. It's so worth it however long it takes.

Theoretically, creating a 500 calorie deficit every day via diet and/or exercise will result in a 1 pound loss per week. In reality, though, every body is different. Some will lose faster, some will lose slower. I set my goal date based on an average loss of 1.5 pounds per week.

The most I've lost is 60 pounds, so I can't speak to the 100# issue.

I can however speak to time based goals. For myself, I do not like them.

Rather than giving myself time based goals, I focused on losing 10 pounds at a time. I call it the decade lifestyle.

A decade at a time. I never cared how long it took me to lose a decade, but I rewarded myself with a pedicure or hair cut or new shirt or new pants, or new kitchen gadget or got the dog a new collar or the grandbaby something, or a new workout outfit or scratch tickets or what ever for each 10 pounds.

All the while, after many years of losing and gaining, the last time, I kept my focus on a decade at a time with maintaining and learning to live a maintenance lifestyle being my ultimate goal.

I spent 10 months losing 30 pounds, but I'm happy to say, I have maintained that loss since September of 2011, I feel good, most days I make good food choices, I can go out to eat, and make better, even if they aren't the best, they are better choices, and I've learned, I love to workout.

If you really want to set a time based goal, it needs to be the rest of your life, not a number of pounds, or time worked out, or carrots eaten or whatever. It needs to be real and reality based.

thanks everyone for your replies, i just wanted to see what a realistic time frame would be so i didn't set myself up for disappointment.

Shcirerf: I really like your idea about the 10 at a time, i'll have to try that. Its just hard for me to not look ahead because at the end of my weight loss i will be able to get married, well engaged first lol. My boyfriend knowing how important that is to me and how much i wanted to lose weight even though i couldn't stick to anything to save my life, i had no motivation. So he said he wouldn't propose until i was at least 160, which i'm actually kinda grateful for cuz i needed the kick in the butt to keep me going :P
