Unhappy Too depressed

I am too depressed to work out. I've just had some things going on that have just whiped me out emotionally and even physically. I feel like there's a weight on me and I can't bring myself to work out even tho I know it will help. I don't even want to eat all I was to do is drink the citrus vodka on top of my fridge. Help me get through this, I've been doing so well. I know if I don't work out and drink on an empty stomach I will be making major mistakes later just causing me to be more depressed. The funny thing is tht I KNOW all this but I can't seem to get off the couch.

I had a 280 calorie homemade egg sandwhich for breakfast on a light English muffin and salsa. Then a roasted butternut squash and brussel sprout salad for lunch with walnuts and Gorgonzola. ( around 300 cals) now I am left depressed and anxious with a knot in my stomach and the desire to drink. What should I do. Help me get through this

Don't drink! Walk! No matter HOW BAD you don't want to...get out and walk. Walk fast and furious! I have had to do this and even though I felt so depressed and bad, by the end of my walk I felt much better.

Just get out there and walk!!! Hugs!

I don't know your back story but if this is an isolated incident then I would say this will pass, but if this is something you deal with on a regular basis then I would seek a Psychologist. Laying around only wanting to drink Vodka is probably past help we can provide. We can give advice but we can't physically pull you off the couch. Hope things get better for you...whatever it is that you're dealing with. ((hugs))

Close the computer, get up, go outside---and walk! Go! Just do it! Come back here in 25 minutes and tell us how you feel.

Go.

Now! :-)

Sorry. I just need words of encouragement and reminders I guess. I've been pretty good with my depression but I have bad anxiety problems mostly and I've learned to cope with them through drinking like some of you may use food. I'm sorry to be a downer tho. But I've done really well so far and I don't want to screw this up! I think I'm just going to have to give myself some tough love

Drinking will help in the moment, but it actually makes anxiety and depression worse over time. The only thing that ever helped my awful panic attacks was cognative behavioral therapy. I'd highly reccomend you seek outside help. It's hard to get started, but 100% worth the results.

Yes, some people eat when stressed but using alcohol to self-medicate anxiety is a much bigger issue. Go for a walk and then please consider talking to someone professional.

Do yourself a favor and dump the vodka down the drain. Having it around is a temptation you don't need. It will add to your stress knowing it is there. You are stronger than it is.

I'm so glad the working out helped! I understand your desire to drink.. my last drinking experience was a bad one (New Years Eve) and I decided to cut back. I am also a fellow depression sufferer.. Alcoholism runs in my family so that's also a negative. Exercise and changes to my diet have been extremely helpful in making me feel as though I accomplish things. My best advice is going to be the same already given. Dump the bottle and seek outside help whether it be a counselor or a friend who has just been there. You can beat this. You are stronger than whatever problems you are facing. You got this!!

I too encourage you to seek help. If you can't afford, or refuse to go, try to check out the book, The Mood Cure, by Julia Ross. Julia Ross is a pioneer in the field of nutritional psychotherapy and a specialist in the treatment of eating disorders and addictions. That book helped me out TREMENDOUSLY. She also has a book called The Diet Cure that is really really eye opening.
