yesterday, I let my son pick out some candy as a treat when we went shopping. He's underweight and eats treats in moderation naturally, and I don't want to mess too much with that ability by making anything forbidden. He asked how many pieces of the candy he could have - we looked at the package and it said serving size was 4. He looked at the sugar grams and said, oh, that's too much, and took 2 pieces and was happy with it.
I can't say that his ability to moderate his intake like that is me rubbing off on him because I don't have it!
But looking at the nutrition labels and using that info to make better choices is definitely something he's learning from me.
