Hi Everyone! If anyone is going out tonight, please stay safe.

Mamakat Popping you leg back in place sounds awful! Geesh! You could just get a skinned knee or something, couldn't you? You don't need to go all out! Dang! I hope today was a good day for you. It sounds like you are starting to get a fan base with your writing!

Bunnabear It sounds like you have a great plan! I can't wait to hear about your progress.

Krissy I'm getting ready to watch the link. I hope you felt better as the day went on. Feel better quickly.

Pluckypear I hope you had a great birthday!

Novangel Congrats on your weigh in! I hope you feel better soon.

Amarantha Hi and Happy New Year to you, too!

Ona We had our traditional dinner, too. It was so good. Do you make turnip greens, mustard greens or collard greens? We make collard greens.

Free Hi and Welcome to the check-in!

Lauren Your dinner sounds great! Enjoy! Love me some garlic green beans!

Good Morning and Happy New Year!

Did we all make it into the New Year?

Well, I am facing the music today instead of putting it off for a couple of days.

Calories for yesterday: 1755 +
Weigh In: 164
Up from the day I left on the cruise: 9.4 pounds

Last year was a really tough year for me with losing my Mom. I struggled with the stress, angio edema, and thyroid issues. I am hopeful that 2013 will be a better year. I want to get my thyroid issues under control so I can manage my weight better and to just feel better, in general. Of course the thyroid issues and angio edema are influenced by my stress levels. The end of the year/first of the year is always very hectic for me due to closing out the books at work and dealing with taxes, etc. This year I also have to deal with my Mom's tax stuff and I still need to finish cleaning out her house. Hopefully once I get my Mom's stuff done everything will calm down a lot for me. I'm telling you, then it will be time for another vacation. No cruises, though. Again, I am hopeful and thinking positive going into the New Year!

ETA: Like what Ona said, I am totally recommitted and refocused to what what has worked for me before.

Wishing everyone a good one!

Good Morning Everyone and Happy New Year to all,

I'm here We made no resolutions this year, instead we brought the year 2013 in with a family argument and now no one is talking to anyone...yay, for us No, this will be my year, because 13 is my lucky number...what will happen, I don't know, but I'm making something happen this year!!!!!

It's already 10 in the morning so weighing op is out. Oh well, I'm sure I didn't lose 7lbs over night. I did some laundry yesterday and walked around, no bending over though. I ended up back in bed cuz me butt hurt, but then we had dinner together...we hardly do that and now we know why. Normally we do resolutions, but no one, but me, were meeting them so it got depressing. I made simple ones So I suggested a good game of Rummy...yikes, never again. We all got phones this year from Santa and while playing cards 3 of us were playing with our phones. While in the middle of a conceited moment (I was taking pics of myself, see new Avi ) DH flipped out about who knows what, cuz I was too into myself. I won't lie Then as I'm taking pics and ignoring argument he turned his venom on me... I got a pic of me get yelled at for something I had no clue about...I look confused It got silent after that.

New Year came in and we didn't say anything. 3 of us Facebooked and Twittered...Poor DH dealing with 3 children all the time. I never found out why I got yelled at or what I was supposed to be supporting as DD had no idea what the heck he was ranting on about. He went to bed, a sore loser, the only one paying attention to the game while the three of us rocked it w/o trying. If you must know, I won by over 100points. And I got lots of goofy pics of myself And that was my New Year party for one

I hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy New Year!

The scale is finally starting to move ever so slightly. It looks like part of my problem may be thyroid related. Hopefully the new specialist can shed some light. Either way, I'm continuing to plug away.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hope you all have a Blessed New Year

After thinking back over last year w/all the experimenting I did,not staying consistant w/ what I know has worked for me. and after Weighing in This morning,I realized I weigh the same thing I weighed last year this time...161.2. I'm taking that as something positive, all is not lost, don't want to think about what I did wrong, changing my ticker to what it's suppose to be(will always have in the back of my mind what i got down to, what i can do and did) and moving on in fighting mode.
Everything Happens for a reason and I had to learn that i can never eat like i did before. No matter how hard i try,Nibbling on this or that,in my case only leads to disaster.

Most of that is water weight Diana, you'll lost it soon.I mix my greens, turnips and collards w/a little hot sauce and sugar on them

5 days w/o exercise I'm starting to pull my hair out...I'm sure the gym will be packed today anyway but I will see how I feel in a few hours. This is the longest cold ever.

Diana, I'm sure a lot of that is water bloat you'll get it off in no time.

I hope I can join you all! It's New Year's Day and I was searching online for some great accountability I could find online and you guys seems like the most supportive group I saw so I hope I can be part of your tribe!

I don't know how to do a ticker or anything. I'm doing the JJVirgin (Drop 7 foods, drop 7 lbs in 7 days book). I don't really expect to drop 7 lbs but I do have a gluten intolerance and I've been slowly eating more gluten (and sugar) so I'm hoping the 21 day (No peanuts, corn, sugar, gluten, eggs, dairy, soy) will start to push the scale down again. I've been in a rut for months. Only going up or back down to my highest weight. YUCK

So I'm not recording calories but I'd love to keep track of what I'm eating to keep myself accountable.

Yesterday
Bkfast- shake
snack - almonds
Lunch - shake
Snack - apple
Dinner, kale chips, lentil soup, curried quinoa and garlic fries (I know not my most stellar moment but they were from whole foods and organic!)

Anyways this is just day 2/21 so here's to staying on course and mostly avoiding sugar which is always my downfall!

Happy new year's
Jo

Diana – I agree with the others, it’s likely water weight and will soon disappear once you’re back into your routine. It sounds like you’ve had a difficult year, and yet you still have such a positive attitude!

mamakat – I think I would have been irritated if I were your DH too! When my DH and I were at the in-law’s for second Christmas he was glued to a video game on his phone - ticked me right off. Maybe your DH was upset that everyone was distracted during “family time” and then to add insult to injury he lost the game? Maybe I’m reading the situation wrong. Glad you’re able to laugh it off though, and that Santa was good to you.

bunnabear – I hope you’re able to figure out any thyroid issues, good luck with the specialist!

OnaMi – Happy New Year to you too! Good for you for not gaining this year, that is a victory in and of itself! At the gym at 6:30 am? Holy Cow! Good for you getting a jump on the new year! I gotta hand it to you *high five*

Amarantha2 – Congratulations on the 16.2 pounds, way to go!

JoSR – Welcome! You’ll find LOTS of support at 3FC. You are eligible for a ticker after having been here for a month (I think it’s a month anyway) and after making so many posts (not sure the exact amount). What kind of shakes are you drinking? Don’t be discouraged if you have to play around with your plan a little bit until it starts to work for you. The best advice I can give you is that you need to find something sustainable, because if you want the weight to stay off you need to make a lifestyle change as opposed to going on a temporary diet. I like to follow Jillian’s advice and not drink my calories because I get much more enjoyment out of eating. Making healthy food choices is important, but keep in mind that weight loss boils down to the number of calories consumed versus the number burned. If adjusting your diet without counting calories creates that calorie deficit for you then hey, that’s great! Good luck and glad to have you.

As for myself I made a big batch of minestrone soup and it turned out pretty delish! At only .43 calories per gram it easily fits into my plan. I made beef and cabbage soup (my new favorite!) earlier this week and have some of that stashed in the freezer. If I have time I’m going to make up some beef barley today too. I’ve been on a pretty major soup kick lately, and because I make it all myself I can control the calorie content. I’ve been cooking my soups for HOURS and HOURS and pack them full of veggies to keep them low cal but high flavor. I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of myself and my new-found soup making skills!

I drove by the gym and it's practically empty. I was really worried about the New Year's resolutioners over crowing the place but maybe they decided to join Lifetime or LA Fitness. Heck, I would love to be a member at one of those nicer gyms also but I can't justify spendng $60+ a month.

I'm going to take down the tree and then head over there. Even if I only walk the treadmill it's something. I can't stand it anymore.
