Talking NSV: Same Weight, Different Size

I just wanted to share a few new non-scale victories.

So, I recently went back to weight loss after taking a much needed 2.5 month maintenance break. In that time I stayed at exactly the same weight (167- which is frustrating mostly because I have been one pound from losing an even 40 for all this time). Anyway, yesterday I did some clothes shopping, which I generally loathe, and was able to confirm that although I have been the same weight, I have gone from a size 10 to a size 6!!! WHAT!? How is that possible? I have now bought the same exact jeans (same brand, style, and color) three times in the last year. First last winter in a 14, then this summer in a 10, and now in a 6. Crazy!

Also, at the gym I always needed two of their tiny little postage stamp sized towels to feel sufficiently covered, but now one little towel not only goes all the way around my body, but overlaps!

I'm so pumped right now! The scale still hasn't budged, and I don't care in the slightest. (I weigh myself at the gym and at home, so I know my scale isn't broken.)

You've recognized something great that not everyone else can see on their own bodies! It's not always about the number, it's also about your size and how you feel Congrats!

When I was weight lifting I went down two lbs but lost a ton of inches! Another reason I'm starting up again.

That's so awesome!

When I began my workout routine I gained three pounds and lost two sizes in about two months, it was such a head trip! Truly, I was the only one who knew what the scale said each day, everyone else just thought I looked awesome. It definitely gave me a different perspective on the important of working my muscles instead of just my willpower - dieting is very helpful, but strength training gave me what I really wanted, which was a firmer, smaller, and more energetic body.

I just have to chime in that this thread made me think. I measured myself for the second time since starting my new lifestyle, and I have lost .5 of an inch on my waist and gut! Unfortunately, I have also lost .5 of an inch on my chest, but my booty has GROWN .25 of an inch! I wouldn't mind even a little more back there

My weight loss is going a lot more slowly than it used to when I was younger, at just under a pound a week, so this is very encouraging news!

Wow GardenBurglar! Congrats! I've been thinking for awhile that strength training was my next step. You just pushed me even more in that direction. I've just got to figure out how to get that done without a gym membership and minimal equipment....

Yes! This!

Although the one time I did recently tell someone IRL my weight was kind of fun. My friend wouldn't stop badgering me wanting specifics about how much I've lost. When I finally told her my weight she let out an audible gasp and responded that I am a "stone-cold, rock-solid beast". I think its the best compliment I've been given in awhile.

Yup! I'll take being made out of bricks, so long as I don't LOOK like a brick
