What do you want your net calories for the day to be?

How do you know you're burning 200 calories?

Is your shift key broken and if so how do you make a ? without it?

I guess it is up to you.
I have a scheduled eating day so I normally don't eat the workout calories back on a typical day. but when I do I try to eat at least 2500 cal. with healthier stuff like whole grain brown and black rice.. etc. good for carbo loading if you are into running... I run/walk a lot.

Personal preference. But, like JohnP said, how do you really know how much you burn. I tend to eat a little more on days I lift to fuel my workout. If I just do cardio I don't.

For me; my daily calorie in take is 1650. I will burn off 1328-1353 after 2 hrs in the gym. I know I am burning these calories because I have been losing 4-5 pounds a week. That's How I know what I am doing is working for me. After getting home from the gym at 2am; I eat apple sauce before I go bed and drink some water and drink some plum juice.

For me; I don't eat more then what I know I will burn!

You can eat them back if you want. You will still lose weight as you're eating at a deficit, you'll just have created a bit less of a deficit. Since there's no real way to know how much I burn, I don't eat anything back. But I shoot for a calorie range instead of one number. Like Lockitup, I don't eat extra for cardio but tend to eat at the higher end of my range when I lift.

Excellent question. I'm also thinking that the OP has no 'y' key. The 'u' apparently works, but the 'o' is intermittent.

!

Typically, I don't "allow back" my calories. I eat my limit and then whatever gets burned off gets burned off.

OP- no i don't eat my calories back, only eat a little extra if i need to fuel something.

John- play nice, a little cranky are we? many people don't use the shift button. although there is absolutely no excuse for the intermittent 'o' usage.

I think it's less about formality and more about showing people respect by putting forth the effort to try to communicate effectively. Regardless, please don't stop posting! No one wants that! You have just as much right to be here and post as anyone else.

Wow. Aren't you a lovely bunch. Feeling impressed with ourselves today? Nine post newbie asking a question, earnestly, about something basic. Your response? Mockery. She could have been using a mobile device, or maybe she is just lacking basic knowledge. Either way someone left this site feeling worse about themselves thanks to you jerks.

Well done.

I won't comment on the joke, as I think she blew it out of proportion given what was said, but it is basic netiquette to spell out posts. I consider it extremely rude when someone won't even put the effort into basic punctuation and grammar to make their posts more comprehensible. It is very difficult to help someone whose writing is so poor it is barely readable, and it is sheer laziness to not write with at least an effort at proper English. It begs the question of why WE should put in effort to give dietary advice when the poster cannot even be bothered to press the shift key?

This forum, unlike some others I am on, doesn't have a rule specifically about properly written and punctuated posts. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be the standard, however!

Now, speaking of useful contributions, did YOU make any to this poster, Slayrick? Or did you just expend the effort to criticize other regular users and not actually offer constructive advice, yourself? Lots not be hypocrites, here.

Is diet making us a little uptight?
I agree to the fact people are different whether "I think" they are rude or being a "Jerk". I can pick and choose in real life as to who my friends are but on the internet, I don't have that option and being polite is my way to go with all types of people.

Angela, that's the best policy, in my opinion. A little humor is fine, but it does come across more abasively than in real life, with body language. I try to be as polite and clear as possible, too, especially where misunderstandings can be rife.
