Default bad habit of second guessing my scale !

So, I jumped on the scale more then i normally do this past week and to my delight and surprise, every time i got on, the scale was down a lb. I always make sure it's calibrated and set on zero before i get on and i always make sure that i have it in the same place and away from anything i could touch which would screw with my true weight.

So saturday i weighed in at 234, not normally the day i weigh in, i always way in on monday mornings when i first get up, but i decided to just check anyways for the **** of it and i was surprised(and excited lol) that I lost one lb and 1/2, so this morning when i did my regular weigh in, my scale showed another lb lost which gives me a total of 37 gone.

I'm excited, but i'm trying to figure out if that's even possible? This past week i've eaten much better then the past few weeks and i did get in a bit more exercise then i normally do, 2- 1 hour long walks and i cleaned the **** out of my apartment which took me like 3 hours lol It technically didn't need that much cleaning, but i did it anyways lol

I dunno, my mom has this thing where she never really gets enthusiastic when i tell her about the progress i've made and it makes me second guess myself and second guessing what the scale shows.
I think she may be frustrated with her own progress, she's only lost a pound (and i'm really happy for her, a pound lost is still a pound lost) in a couple of months, and i think she may be a little bit jealous because i've lost nearly 40 lbs in 4 and 1/2 months.

*sigh*.. end rant/

Did you have less weight loss the week or two before that? I tend to not lose at all, then lose a few pounds within a couple of days. I assume that water weight is masking fat loss until my body starts to let go of the water and then I can see it on the scale. Your body might be doing something similar.

Also, when my eating is less than ideal, I gain 2-3lbs very quickly, and lose it with 2-3 days of being back on plan.

At any rate, the weight on the scale is what it is, and I'd certainly be doing a happy dance in your position! Congrats! Your hard work is paying off!

I'm guessing that might be what is it, the last couple of weeks before this past week, I had more sodium then i really should have and I know i wasn't drinking enough water. so i didn't lose a whole lot, maybe one lb- 1 1/2 lbs between the 2 weeks before last week, It was definitely less then what i normally see.

I've been loading up on a lot more veggies this past week and i plan to do the same this week while getting in as much exercise as i did last week. So we'll see. I really wanted a 40 or more loss by the 25th (which is my family reunion), so it's definitely the goal this week to get those last 3 lbs gone, and if it happens to be more then all the better lol.

I find too, when my eating is less then ideal (and if i happen to consume way too much salt) the scale will jump quite a bit, but then after a week of good habits and enough water and minimal to barely any salt, then it goes back down and shows that I've even lost a lb or two.

I happened to have taken a photo this morning showing the number of 233 and a new progress photo, so mum can kind of shut up about it lol.

Thanks!, I happen to be really happy about it, but then when my mother starts going off about how that can't be accurate and "i thought you told me such and such the other day" is when i really start to second guess. It's a bit of a struggle with her, she says good job, but i can tell by her tone she doesn't really mean it. That's the most frustrating thing about this journey so far, she doesn't understand how hard it's been because she's never been 270 lbs. It had been so easy to not care about what i ate and not care about portion sizes and just eat junk and crap and processed foods constantly the last 3 and 1/2 years and i've been working really hard to keep on top of it the past 4 and 1/2 months. I have my off days just like everybody else, but at least for the most part I'm proud of what i've done and i just wish she would be sincere and even just a little enthusiastic lol

40 pounds in four months is more than do-able. I've lost 35 in the last two months, and have been sweating like crazy! So trust your body- I know it feels different! And your scale. Also measurements help me to reaffirm what my scale says is right.
