  • On July 18, 2011, I decided to try one last time to lose weight. I was fatter than I had ever been, six months removed from gall bladder surgery, and miserable. I got tired from just standing, let alone trying to walk for five minutes without discomfort.

At 4:00 a.m., I got up and did my one-year weigh-in. While I thought I would do ok, some recent vacation slip ups worried me so I felt less than excited about this weigh in. I had bought new batteries for my old scale, but since I didn't trust the old scale after such a long time, I bought a new scale last night too.

So I hopped on my new scale: 204.4 pounds! I tried the old scale: 203.6 pounds! I tried the new one again: 204.6 pounds (I like the old scale better ). Old scale said 203.6 again, and after one last time on the new e, it said 204.4 again.

Either way, round up or round down, and you get 204 pounds.

    I HAVE LOST 127 POUNDS!!!

127 pounds in one year. And down seven pant sizes! Best of all, I feel very physically fit due to all the exercises. I love my new-found triceps

The three primary things that got me through this year:

    3. Typing in every food I ate, and every exercise session, into an iPad app for tracking. No better way of dissuading me from eating something unhealthy than to see how many calories are in it!

    2. Making a one year commitment. I got that idea from this board I don't know who wrote it, but bless you. Whenever I felt like not going to the gym, or like not getting back on track after a slip up, I reminded myself of this commitment and got up off my lazy butt.

    1. This support forum. Whether it was to celebrate a success, ask for advice, or just plain whine and complain, this forum was there for me. So many wonderful tips, inspirational stories, and words of wisdom.

Eating less and exercising more helped a bit too

I lowered my target weight by 7 pounds, and for the first time I can see the finish line in the distance. I will not give up! I have made another one-year commitment that will hopefully get me to my target and well into maintenance.
