Lightbulb Try this! (also posted at buddy board)

Hi all. I am really into inspirational quotes and motivation techniques during my weight loss journey. The following is something I did for myself awhile back, and it made a huge impact on me- when I shared it on another board, I got a huge response from people who really liked it. So, I thought I would share it here...

Here is what you do... first of all, picture yourself 20 years in the future. Now, as the "future you" write a letter to the "present you". Do one letter as someone who made goals and succeeded and then one letter as someone who gave up. A short example of mine follows:

"Dear Me,
Well, here it is 20 years later. I can only tell you, but never really convey the meaning of what you did that year. You made your goals and you stuck to them You lost a lot of weight that year, but gained so much in other areas. You will spend the next 20 years, living life the way you want. Nothing stops you, you are powerful and completely comfortable with yourself. OH, and the adventures you have! One last thing, and I mean this with the truest, most heartfelt strength, thank you for my life.
Sincerely, Me.

Dear Me,
Well, here we are. Not much has changed. We are still hiding ourself and our body. You kept making goals, but never made the choice to really stick to it. You will spend the next 20 years, wishing for what you just don't make happen. It was within your grasp all these years, all these wasted years... How can one truly apologize to oneself for not planning for the future? For not truly living?
Sincerely, Me

Anyway- give it a go... (just love those!)

I love this idea, but... I'm guessing you're pretty young. In my case, I think I'll stick to a letter from the me of 10 years in the future. Two decades is pretty scary to think about!

LOL... actually I am in my thirties! Everytime I read my letters to myself, I get re-motivated. I posted mine on my website and I have gotten such strong reactions from my readers on the idea- so I thought I would share the idea here.
Hey, whatever works!

I just LOVE the dancing banana... what can I say? lol
