It can be difficult to see someone else do what looks like the easy road when you know that it is a tough journey alltogether. I really think that you are being honest in expressing your feelings. It is easy to say that this is the easy road, but in reality, neither road is easy. Weight loss surgery is extremely difficult, there are many risks involved and even when you get through the physical surgery, there are limitations that you are forced to deal with for the rest of your life, if you want to maintain the weightloss. Different surgeries come with different limitations, but they all have something. In addition, there is the mental part and having people think that it was the "easy" road and dealing with all that.
My suggestion is that you talk with your mom and pledge to support her choice, whichever it may be, as long as she gets informed of all the risks and requirements and together both of you persue what works for each of you individually. Good luck!
