I only eat it if I'm desperate or for a treat. I get the veggie delight with veggies, no cheese, and mustard. Ideally I try to make all my own food so I know the exact number of calories and nutrients and the quality is going to be way better if I do it myself.

I think that if you're going to eat any kind of fast food, Subway is the winner by far. Though some of the other places have some decent options.

When my husband and I road trip, I always try to get Subway when we stop because it has veggies and I can get lean turkey. My rule with cheese is that if I can't really taste it, then its just extra calories and I should skip it. So I usually skip it at Subway because all of the veggies mean the cheese's flavor is masked anyway.

We have a monthly game night with friends, and everyone gets junk food, and I allow myself subway and diet coke that night.

I don't know if I would call it health food because the nitrites in the meat isn't healthy and I don't know if the bread is 100% whole grain (I assume not) but you can load it up with veggies and keep the mayo and such to a minimum and should be ok. It sure beats the heck out of McD's or BK or other fast food joints. I do think you can lose weight with Subway because they do a great job of posting calories for each sandwich and such.

I always get the veggie delight with most veg except tomato, and honey mustard dressing. I tried the veggie pate one once but it made me feel unwell and I really like the plain veg one

I don't have any guilt about eating it and would consider it pretty healthy as it's basically salad in a bun, although I only get one every few months probably.

I think you'd be much better off making your own sandwich, knowing exactly what and how much goes in it and it's much cheaper. I suppose if you keep it to a minimum (whole grain bread, a slice of ham, lettuce and cucumbers) it's fine, but why would you pay so much for something you could easily make at home?
