Default Best way to take fibre supplements ?

I changing my biggest loser from accelerated to rapid and i have to keep in with dietary requirements which includes 96g of protein &18g of fibre and all within 1200 calories.

I eat alot of protein from eggs /fish & chicken etc and i have a protein shake after my workouts but i dont get enough fibre.

I suffer from iBS also.

Anyway ive been dabbling with this new plan past few days but plan to get strict with it from tomorrow so ive boughtthe tony freguson dietry fibre.

It says to put on cereal or in your favourite drink , i put it in my juice and it doesnt dissolve just floats about and is pretty disguising but i really want to take it.

Anyone have any good ideas on how to get it down me with out gagging, i was thinking in a cup of tea?

If you eat plenty of vegetables, you should hit 18g easily. I forget the name of it but there are fiber supplements that dissolve clear into water. If you are using psyllium husk, then you could also try it in your protein shake.

I mix it into my protien shakes for breakfast. Just blend it in there and you won't get that film on top.
edit - I was told a spoonful of sugar free yogurt/applesauce/greek yogurt can help it go down quickly too.

I have IBS too and fiber supplements just make it worse.

I eat Fiber One (generic) cereal with yogurt. A half cup serving is 50 calories and 14 g fiber. I also sprinkle it on salads sometimes.

She already said she was adding it to her drinks and a protein shake should have enough liquid for psyllium husk. So there shouldn't be an issue.

It was meant as an attempt at humor. Psyllium husk without enough water will have some interesting results... I'm sure like most dieters she is getting more than adequate water.

I was taking the regular Metamucil orange 2 or 3 times a day and it was doing the trick for me, kept me full and bulked up my bowel movements but about 2 weeks after I started drinking it I had terrible gas and went to the bathroom 4 times in about 5 hours. No diarrhea just a lot of...well you know.

My coworker is a nurse and I told him about this and what HE told me is that for most young people we don't need fiber supplements, older people 50+ do but we should be getting enough fiber from food. He kind of scared me because he said that your body can either a) not digest the fiber and back you up and you have to go to the doctor or b) it will get used to having it and once you stop taking it you will not be able to "go" like before. Basically eat way more vegetables and try to get it from real food. I tried Benefiber but I never really notice it do anything for me.
