Odd question...Ovulation
I've seen it said on other boards etc that Ovulation can affect a womans weight for a few days, has anyone found this to be true? I feel bloated, sore on one side and my scale is dropping very slowly..nothing in my eating habits has changed....still doing really well. Does this happen to any of you ladies?
Thanks

I know periods do effect the body a lot. It just comes down to hormones. Once your hormones change..yes you can get water weight..odd cravings..etc.
If you are on birth control you won't ovulate, but you will get periods which always make you retain water.

I gain or stall out every month around ovulation. More so than around TTOM. It's one of the reasons I put the chart in my siggie, it shows more how my body works... I basically only drop weight a few days after ovulation until a day or so befor TTOM. Better put, I'm really losing fat all month long, but it's counter acted on the scale by added water weight for a big chunk of the month. After ovulation I get a big whoosh if I've been true to plan all month and exercising.... In the beginning it would mean 14 pounds in 10 days... Now it's more like 5-6 pounds in 10 days and then the rest of the month, flatlined or a slight gain.
It can be frustrating, but once you know your body's patterns, it's easier to accept and understand.

Every woman is different, but the majority of us see some gain/stall at some point in our cycles. It's annoying, but if you know when to expect it then it's not such a big deal.
I find that I'm up a pound or two just before I get my period and once it hits those extra pounds slowly taper off.
When I was losing weight, I would sometimes stall just before my period hit and the get a nice couple pound drop during and after it
So stick to it and the weight will come off!

Definitely! As I daily weigher I can always tell when I'm ovulating. Normally my best weight loss period is post-ovulation, pre-TOM. However, this past cycle because I had been retaining a lot of water weight from Christmas I dropped 3 lbs immediately after my period, plateaued while ovulating and dropped another 3lbs after ovulating (6lbs is really, really unusual for me... so definitely some water weight there). However, it's funny how it stopped right in the middle and then picked up again once I was done ovulating. If we do ever try again for another kid, it will sure make things easier!

Yes. I gained 2 lbs during ovulation. 5 lbs during AF. But it was completely gone after.

Yes for me too. The hormones do affect water retention (and hunger). I always stall right before TOM and during ovulation, and then drop weight right after.

I retain water when I ovulate and in the few days up to and through the first half of my menstruation every month. I'm in the middle of ovulation bloat right now and it isn't fun, but tracking my weight and calories for so long has left me with a very good understanding of what various things do to the scale and my body. It wasn't overeating that caused the stalls/gains, that's for sure!

Me too. I was just actually about to ask this question here too. I retain fluid and have those "Can't feel full no matter what I eat" days during my ovulation.
