I love following people's progress in their signatures and postings. How do you reward yourself after each of your mini-goals is met? I'm trying to figure out what would be some good rewards and mini-motivators. So far, this is what I've got:
215 - pedicure
210 - manicure
205 - manicure & pedicure
200 - $50 shopping spree
190 - iPad
180 - Mini - vacation
170 - $500 shopping spree
First 5k under 30 mins - new shoes
First 10k - spa day
What are your mini-rewards? Any rewards to stay away from? Anything that you found to really push yourself and get you to that goal?
Thanks for any help!
Well, stay away from food rewards...but it looks like you have done that.
I also think along with my goals, for every non-Zumba workout I do in 2012 (I'm a Zumba instructor...so I HAVE to do those workouts) that I am going to put $1 in a jar....and I can spend that money at goal.

This might be sort of strange but when there are sales and stuff at a store, I buy clothes in a too small size and when I loose the weight, I am rewarded with new clothes. I try them on every now and then to see if they fit. that way, I don't have too many clothes in the same size, I only buy a few at a time. For example, I wear 3 different sizes of pants, 20, 18 and 16. I need to wear a belt with the 20's and 18's but not the 16's when I get to the size 14, I will get rid of the 20's.
I don't have a reward system as such, and no extra cash to splash on treats (even if they are non-food related) for myself. I have just come to think of the weight loss, healthy eating and improvement in muscle tone as a reward in itself.
It never occurred to me before that I should just be doing this to feel better in my body, so now instead of using a 'carrot system' for rewards I just remind myself that a lighter, stronger/healthier and sexier body would look and feel better than any other reward I could think of.
I wish I had the money to. Right now all I know is my focus of getting to goal and getting new clothes. In the mean-time, my mini-goals are really just to keep me focused on the end prize and feel accomplished.
I have an unhealthy addiction to downloading music from itunes and buying way too many books that often go unread. So I have decided that beginning in January I am giving up itunes and book buying unless it is as a reward for lost weight. I think I will alternate it every five pounds, allow myself 15 dollars in itunes money or 15 dollars in book money. If I don't lose the weight, well, I will be saving some money, so that's a plus, and I'll just have to "make do" with all the books I own but have yet to crack or even re-read a few favorites.
I think I should set up a reward system for exercise. I need some extra motivation to get to the gym!
I've got an issue right now where I give myself whatever I want whenever I want. Surprise, surprise that's hindering my weight loss as well. But it's obviously hard to have a reward system when I don't really have limits right now. :-) I'm trying to do two things:
1. Figure out that I should only use buying things as a treat instead of something I just do when I'm bored. I think it will be more rewarding in the end and will save money.
2. Find unusual things that would be a good reward. Something I wouldn't normally do for myself yet would be enticing. Hard to figure that out when I don't really limit myself at the moment.
My next reward is a Garmin GPS watch to help with my running training. I've wanted one of these watches for a long time, but the big price tag (~$200+) scares me away.
I'm going to get this watch when I reach 145lbs and am no longer considered overweight. I will have gone from class II obese to 'normal' and the watch will help me go even further. I can't wait!
For my first stone (14 pounds) I treated myself to a new phone. I had most of the money saved already, but told myself I wasn't going to get it unless I'd lost a decent amount of weight.
For my second stone, I treated myself to a new laptop. This wound up being a win win, as my mom got my old laptop which she's really enjoying using now.
For my third stone lost, I will be treating myself to a new wardrobe. Saying that though, I did quite a bit of shopping over Thanksgiving to replace my wardrobe (had to as most of it wouldn't stay on!) so I'll see what I need as I'm only about another 7 pounds away from that goal.
Oh....I love this post !
195 Let's see...$150. to spend at Marshals.
190 Zipping up my size 12 Valentine's party dress ( please, God/Godess).
185 A bluray player so I can stream movies and music on my old tv.
180 $200. Spring wardrobe upgrade.
175 Ability to walk in high heels again.
170 Dermatology for skin upgrade.
165 A visit to Elizabeth Arden's.
Loving all the great ideas! I admire those of you who are able to view the weight loss as its own reward. I definitely know myself and know that I need to be going towards something. To be honest, being healthier for some reason isn't enough for me. Someone posted before about health concerns and problems going away with the excess mass lost. I don't have many but dry skin is one and hopefully that will go away. Every day when I get on that scale I cross my fingers and hope for the best. Your shares are great and I think I may just steal some of your rewards or work them in as mini-mini-rewards [are we allowed to have those too? ]
My phone upgrade happens to coincide with me reaching my goal. Almost anyway...it's January 3. So to celebrate me getting to goal, I'm buying myself an iPhone 4s
I didn't give myself any weight loss rewards (honestly seeing the scale go down and myself shrink was enough of a reward), so why not a nice (material) reward for reaching goal?

Congratulations! Give yourself a couple rewards! You've earned it!
