Default GOAL, interuppted!

Today I hit 150. That was my original goal. Why that number? Well, because when I weighed 344 the thought of dropping below 300 was daunting, below 250 was a distant fantasy and below 200 - well frankly I thought that would be impossible. 150 had this nice sound to it, but I pretty much knew I'd never get there.

Obviously at 5'1" I need to lose at least 20 pounds more. As 150 became more of a reality I thought that I should change my stats to reflect a real goal weight, but the mind is a funny thing. I didn't want to.

So for the next couple days I'm going to play pretend. I'm going to pretend I 5'10" instead of 5'1" and that 150 makes me a wonderfully thin chick. Then I'll give up that fantasy and re-adjust my stats!!

Wow, CherryPie, You're awesome. I know what you mean about the numbers. Well, pretend your 5'10 for about ten minutes, then celebrate yourself for who your are and what you've done. If you never lose another pound, you've achieved more than most. If you decide to shed more, that's great too.
Congratulations on your wonderful 5'1 achievement!

Hi Cherry

Congratulations! Wow, you lost more than half of you weight! I would for sure say you should take a bit of time to celebrate before you move on to a new goal. Just be careful not to celebrate it with food, ha, but you have undoubtedly learned that by now or you would not have made it to where you are. What a great Christmas present you gave yourself. I am thrilled for you. I am also envious LOL because I *am* 5'9" and I would be thrilled to see 150 (although with my larger build that would be a bit too low for me).

A huge, huge, HUGE congratulations to you!!!! To see that you have lost 194 lbs is astonishing... incredible. You are an amazing inspiration for all those starting who believe that their goals, too, are out of reach; those who can't imagine they'll ever get there, that it's all but impossible. I remember that feeling, and it was seeing people like you who made me believe it was really worth trying.

I could not be more thrilled for you today. Enjoy every minute of this huge success!

Congratulations!! What an inspiration you are!

Question: Do you really want to be 130 or is that just the number you think you're "supposed" to weigh? I ask that because this time around (I've yo-yo'd several times during my adult life) I decided on a higher goal weight--140-145---because I knew that it would be easier to maintain, and frankly, I'm pretty satisfied with how I look at that weight. In my 20s or 30s, I would have wanted to be 130 or even thinner because that's what I was told I "should" weigh. But at my age now (43), I would rather be a bit more and be able to relax a bit on my eating and exercise.

I don't know your age or anything else other than your height & weight, but I thought I would just share my experience of sometimes being influenced by outside factors rather than what I really wanted. You may really want to be 130, and if so, more power to you!!!

Congrats! Even if you decide to set a new goal, count this one as done! Wow, what an amazing accomplishment.

Lets all celebrate YOU! You deserve this incredible honor. You have walked the walk and fought the good fight. Celebrate wearing your crown of glory! When it's time, put away the crown and put your boxing gloves back on again! Go you!

Well done, CherryPie. What you've accomplished is wonderfully impressive and I hope you know that. Pat yourself on the back, take a breath, and then think about what's next.

Congrats!

completely amazing! Us shorties get the shaft, always feeling like we have to be SO LOW. but we don't! hang out at 150 and see how it "fits" you...it might just be the perfect weight. Congrats on your incredible journey!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words! It is exciting and surreal to be 150.

I'm 39 and have never, ever been a normal weight. So I have no frame of reference. However, 130 puts my into a normal BMI so there's that, and plus I still have a huge stomach/butt area that I'd like to get rid of, and I'm hoping 20 more pounds will help that a lot. I'm also okay playing it by ear. If I get down to say 135 and my body seems to stop there, I'm okay with that. Not going to kill myself over 5 pounds.

Actually it is not just the shorties... we are all different and yes, I agree, if 150 fits, enjoy it! I just changed my goal weight to 170 instead of 160 because I *know* that when I was at 170 before I was thin as a rail, even though the charts still call me overweight. Of course I was a lot younger then and working out a lot more than I can now, so we'll see when I get there. But I just have a large build and am never going to be tiny.

Anyway, yes, your advice was excellent!
