The guy I was dating invited me to this pool party where his friend had this above ground pool with a really old wooden deck that needed to be torn down.
I was feeling really good that day, wearing shorts for the first time in years around people I didn't even know except the guy I was with.
Anyway, me and him and another guy were standing on the deck playing with water guns while everyone else was playing around in the pool. Me and the guy I was dating were squirting each other in the face and the next thing I knew my leg went straight through the deck. I was so shocked... everyone just stopped moving while I was trying to yank my leg back through. He helped me out and dusted the wood and dust off my legs and I just laughed it off. But on the inside I just wanted to drown myself in that damn pool.
I think I'm over it now though, it just motivated me to get back on track.
I woulda been pretty mortified too but... ya know what? Screw it. Coulda been worse. Coulda broke your leg or something..... and.... you're losing. And that's all that matters.
How terrible! I have moments like that before time and time again. But just brush them off, because they are about to be in the past. It will be something you will look back on and say "Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that again"
I did something like that once except it was an old dock at a family lake cabin. I stepped and my foot went right through! No boy involved, but I was like 16, so still pretty mortifying!
It's awesome that you're using this experience as motivation to get back on track! Positivity always wins .

So true. My little sister's leg went through a deck once, several years ago, and she was just a kid. It happens.
You know, at my heaviest, I was fortunate enough to never break anything I stood on or sat on. However, just today, I sat on one of those plastic chairs and the legs literally spread out under me in all directions.
I love that you laughed it off! And I know that you were feeling totally different inside but kudos to you for handling it the way you did!
Glad that you weren't hurt & just like everyone else is saying it sounds like a crappy deck, A deck should be able to sustain wayyyy more that you weigh. The homeowner is breathing a sigh of relief that he dodged the lawsuit lol.
@ Shani omg! That happened to me in college. We were using the chairs as indoor furniture and it clearly said "not for use indoors." I found out why as I was flat on my back on top of a 3 legged chair lmao it's funny now!

Oh my. I feel your pain -- literally -- because the same thing happened to me about three years ago. I was standing on my grandmother's front porch (again, a porch that badly needed to be either repaired or torn down) and my leg went straight down through it. I was humiliated like you wouldn't believe, and I know exactly how horrible it can make you feel.
I'm glad you weren't hurt, though. And, look at it this way -- the deck was in need of repairs and that could have happened to anyone who was there. (I know, that might not help you much, but really, it's the truth.) It's just an unfortunate coincidence that it happened to be you who fell through.
Biggest embarrassment ever.
