Default Why does one bad day throw off my whole week??

I overate really badly on Monday at my parents' holiday party, between junk food and drinking I totally blew it. But this week I have been pretty good. Of course, this all hit at the same time as my 3-month old's big growth spurt, and I've been hungrier than usual.

I try to eat between 1750-1900 calories each day, but this week between Monday and yesterday, I was about 1400 calories OVER that total. I realize it's a lot, but it's not enough to gain 4 pounds which is what the scale is reflecting.

Should I just go way under that range today and tomorrow to even it out a little more? I do NOT want to negatively affect my milk supply in any way, so when I know he's eating around the clock and I'm hungry, I eat. I still log it, but I do eat. I did start running this week and have been to the gym 3 times plus walking the dog. I do drink about a gallon of water every single day.

It just doesn't make sense that I screwed up, but have been redeeming myself, and I'm still up 4 pounds. I hope to see a big whoosh soon because seeing the scale go up despite trying to make it go down is very discouraging!

Eating less than you are while nursing won't help the quality of your milk. Just keep on working on the best foods with good nutrition that you can and make it consistent. It is better to keep eating in a healthy way daily and when you are done nursing you can reduce your intake as needed.

Try to avoid the "all or nothing" mentality. If you eat healthy MOST of the time you will lose weight.

The key is to get back on track immediately with the next meal...not the next day. If you eat appox 21 meals a week...going off the plan 2 out of 21 is not as bad as all 21!

May not be a bad idea to avoid the scale for a few days and just focus on your eating.
