Default Do you work out when sick?

Do you guys work out even when you are sick, especially if you aren't super sick? Been feeling run down lately and dealing with off and on headaches and stomach aches and with a few times of lightheaded/dizziness. Just imagine a flu bug, but scaled down. I'm feeling terrible about not working out for several days but just feel so "blah" I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. If you did take a few days-I'm going on 6 days off because of sickness, how did it impact your weightloss (haven't weighed due to broken scale and not going to the gym so I haven't used their scale).

Depends. Often I'll work out if it's a cold. If I'm feeling super run-down in addition to everything else, though, I'll skip a day and get some rest.

Only menstrual cramps. IMO sickness is a sign your body needs rest. Besides I have a toddler who still wakes at all hours, that plus my sickness would just kill me

Haha @sacha. I was thinking the same thing. I HAVE to run after my kids when I'm sick and I think that's enough activity.

I will sometimes do some yoga or weight lifting but nothing strenuous until I'm pretty much all better.

I find I feel better when I workout and I'm sick. often my tummy feels better afterwards. and I have more energy and sleep better. Try drinking more water too and warm tea.

It depends how sick I am. If I just have a stuffy nose or a little bit of a headache I'm good to go. If it is a stomach ache (serious) or a migraine or the flu, definitely not. No reason to stress my body more than it already is. I also sometimes modify what my workout is, switching to lower impact, shorter times, or with less intensity.

I can't do cardio if I don't feel well. I feel like I'm trudging through mud, but I can do a walk or bike ride or a lighter weighted workout. Now, if you add in sleep deprived, then I skip it.

However, if I'm truly sick - bad cold, or anything with a fever, I do not work out as that is just counter intuitive. I could end up making myself feel worse and be out of commission for even longer!

I do except when I'm like flu-sick. I just do a downgraded version of my workouts - half the weightlifting, shorter runs and more yoga/pilates so at least I feel like I'm doing something. Also, the scale is not affected if I have the flu b/c my appetite is shot so food is not really an issue at that point, lol. I used to skip workouts for horrible menstrual pain but the running has helped me manage that time of the month a lot better, thankfully. I've learned if you really listen to your body, you'll be okay.
