Weight gain.

So, I went off that two week crappy diet thing from **** with no transition plan last week. I'd come down to 209 lbs which was a weight loss of about 8 lbs. This week I haven't particularly been watching what I eat, but there isn't any junk at home for me to eat, so I generally eat good food. My sodium intake is very low and I try to drink AT LEAST 1-2L of water everyday. I missed two days at the gym, but one was when I had to go to another city to get my U.S. visa issued (standing in 125 degree weather, in the sun for hours can completely zap you of energy and I'd only slept for an hour the night before because I had to wake up at an insane hour and I don't sleep well under such pressure) and the other was yesterday when I had a fever and slept for 6 hours of the day.

But I've put on 5lbs this week. FIVE POUNDS! (TOM ended last week too) And I know that it was bound to happen, but still, seeing it is really painful.

On the upside though- I'm still losing in inches. I've lost a total of 7.75 inches (aggregate of waist, hip, arm, thigh and calves) since I started on June 8th (1.75" this week), even though I've seen no weight-loss.

Blech. I hate gaining weight, especially when I'm doing everything fine (as you are). Hang in there! I'm sure it will go away in a couple days after the scale gremlins find another victim to torture.

if you're losing inches, the scale is probably showing a gain because of being sick, being out in the sun and "frying" yourself, and lack of sleep....i ALWAYS pay for it when i'm in the sun or don't get enough sleep...havent been sick in awhile so i dont know how that would affect the scale

I'm not sure what diet you went on but if it was a very low calorie or very low carb or both than your water levels would have gone down. Now that you're eating again your water levels went back up.

The scale is an extremely unreliable way to measure progress.

Unfortunately, 2 weeks just isn't enough time to permanently lose 9 pounds, whatever the scale may have told you.

But look at it this way: instead of bemoaning the 5 lbs you gained, celebrate the 4 lbs you lost. Those likely were for real, and a great jumping off place for your journey.
