Drivers License

  • It just out of the blue occurred to me today and I was wondering if anyone had thought about this. All the ideas I have to reward myself when I hit the BIG milestone of ideal body weight and it occurred to me.... my ultimate reward! I am going to walk into that DMV and get an updated drivers license with my new body weight on it!!!! It sounds so simple but I think for me it will be more rewarding then any shopping spree (oh yes that will be on the books also!). I think it will help me keep accountable for maintenance also. What do you all think, anyone else excited about this idea or am I just crazy?
  • Not crazy at all. I looked at my driver's license photo the other day, and OMG! It doesn't even look like me. My husband said, "Who is that person?" LOL So, I am thinking of doing the same thing.
  • That is an awesome idea!! You should definitely do that!! My DL says I weigh 165 and I haven't changed it since high school...(sheepish grin)...maybe that is why my goal weight is 165! But really, I think that is a cool idea and an awesome motivator.
  • Great idea ! This is the first time in years I haven't lied about my weight on my license.
  • Great idea. Hopefully I'll get to do that someday, of course first I actually have to get down to the 180 it says first. Haha!
  • Definitely not crazy Dog Rescue Mama!

My license says 145 on it. Last time I went to get renewed they asked me if my weight was the same, I lied, of course, and said yes (I am not sure if it ever was 145 as a licensed driver!). I am now 3 pounds away from it and probably look alot different than the current picture.
  • Fortunately, weight doesn't go on licenses in TX!

But, I have done this! When I lost weight 10 years ago (and have since gained & relost most of it), I went to the DL office for the sheer reason of getting a new picture. I still have that picture on my license.

I just looked at it, I think my face looks thinner NOW than in the picture. Hmmm, maybe a new picture will be in order.
  • PA doesn't put the weight on our licenses either, but getting a new picture when I have to renew next year will be nice.
  • I forgot to update my stats last time I was at the DMV. Good for weight (I'm now within 4 lbs of the stated 145) but bad for height (says 5'2, am 5'4). This has caused me a few problems at night clubs in the past so you'd think I would have remembered to update it.

I didn't think that the DMV let you update your DL picture unless you were totally unrecognizable, and even then it was up to the manager in charge?
  • I think that's an awesome idea! It's sort of internally stressful to keep lying about weight (for me at least). In fact, I just got asked my weight for job paperwork, and took 9 lbs off. At least it was only 9 this time right?!

But yeah...my DL says 140 when I used to weigh 170, but I'd tell myself it was pretty close. I'd love to update mine with a REAL weight!
  • I totally did the same thing. Once I lost all my weight, the first time, I went in and changed my picture and updated my stats. However, I ended up losing an additional 10 lbs and my license said 175, but I weighed 165. So I lied on my license, again, but in a good "weigh". lol I'm trying to get back to that place again. Although it seems like a struggle now, I will get there. Oh yes, I will get there.
  • I understand this. I'm doing a similar thing. I'm an actor and have to have a resume with my weight on it and need headshots. I am going to get new headshots when I reach my goal weight and it's going to be so nice to type in my new weight when I get there. That's motivation right there for me!

But I want to get a driver's license new picture too. It's a much better reward than food, in my opinion.
  • Thankfully there is no weight on the licenses here either, but the lines here are horrible at DMV all the way out of the door sometimes. So that would be punishment to me lol.
But it is a great idea and you get a new picture!
