Default Heels: To Wear or Not To Wear?

Hello, ladies. I need your advice on whether I can wear these heels or if I look like, as some people on the internet have so delicately said in reference to large women in heels, "a hippo on stilts."

I never ever wear heels, but the boyfriend and I were shopping for dress shoes for him and I found these. They're low enough that I can walk in them, but high enough to still be heels.

I'm going out tonight with friends, and I'm wondering if I can wear these in public yet *Sigh* I rely on you ladies for everything

At what weight did you feel comfortable wearing heels? Was it your highest, somewhere lower, or do you just hate the things?

Everyone looks good in heels they make your legs look nice and make your butt look perkier. If you like them wear them!

You have the right pants on for them, and a nice sassy shirt so go ahead and wear them!

I think when people wear pants that are ankle length and tighter at the ankle, those can be less flattering with heels. You've got the straight leg/boot cut, with the right length.

For me, wearing heels or not wearing heels is about comfort, not about look. I feel pain in heels no matter what size I am! I hate them! But they look awful darn nice, and my dear, you look wonderful! If they're comfortable, wear them!

And whoever told you that hippo thing is an idiot.

Thanks, ladies!! I think I'm going to wear them. Worst case they hurt and I get weird looks, best case they're fun

Eliana, I saw it on a thread on some forum about how fat people shouldn't wear heels (which is where my paranoia was born) — if someone said it to me I don't think I'd ever leave the house again! People can be so cruel.

If they are comfortable, wear them. If not, DON'T! You will have a pinched, miserable look on your face, and your posture will be off.

I think the heels enhance the slacks; not sure if I would like them with a dress or skirt, but they look great with this outfit.

I love heels and wear them frequently; I always have. And if I look like a hippo on stilts in them, then I am by-damn a fashionable hippo on some killer stilts.

If you're comfortable in heels, then by all means wear them! They look great with your outfit; you look terrific from tip to toe.

Stacey and Clinton (What Not to Wear) would be so proud that you chose the heels and the boot cut pants. They definitely elongate the leg and show your figure to its best advantage.

I don't wear heels myself - not my style - so I can't answer your question about what weight to start wearing them. But, they look fabulous on you. If you're comfortable you should definitely wear them.

I rarely ever wear flat shoes. As long as the shoe fits, I think any woman that wants to wear heels should wear them. I cringe when I see a woman who has an inch and a half of heel hanging off the back of her heels or her foot is oozing out the sides. Your shoes look great, no worries!

They look great, definitely wear them! Also, I like the green top as well.

Personally, I've never worn straight-up heels, though I do own some knee-high boots with heels. I've always worn whatever kind of footwear I've wanted, regardless of weight.
