When does the back fat go???

  • You know.. i have few complaints about where my body loses weight since it seems to be..everywhere instead of one specific spot..but my back fat is one area i would like to lose..so i could buy a nicer bra..and well i would be cool with not having a muffin top either..so i was just wondering for those who have had experience losing lots of weight..how many pounds did you lose before you started seeing results in your back and muffin top?
  • Mine went first. I think it just depends on your body. My back is noticeably less flabby (I had BIG rolls on my back before, now I have one that is tolerable for right now). I wish I'd lose some weight in my arms and legs though!
  • I've lost pretty much everywhere but I didn't start measuring into months into my journey. My back has lost 1.5" in the past month but everyone is different. I'd rather have lost more in my waist in arms to be perfectly honest. lol!
  • Everyone's body is different, I'm about 13 pounds down and am losing from my belly and butt (which really needs all the fat it can get!) Haven't noticed any back fat leaving yet, but my bras are being fastened on the smaller notches.
  • argh..i want to lose it on my back..to fit my shirts better..to be honest.. it sucks..cause i lose it everywhere not one specific spot which means i cant see the loss on me even though ive lost almost 15 pounds..cant see it!!! but i have like another 85 to lose just to be close to healthy..
  • Yeah, my back fat went first. I loose weight the opposite way I put it on. I wish there was such a thing as spot reducing too because I'd be targeting my hips first and foremost!

Have you thought about buying a body shaper for just your top half to smoothe things out a little bit? At least until you start to see it disappear?

I love the questions you have been asking. Knowledge is power. :-)
  • My hips, belly and lower back fat are still there and I have lost 74 pounds. Seems like on me there was the most fat around those places and tere is still a lot to go.
  • I had back fat for as long as I could remember and always hated it so much and thought it would never go away. I had to go from 160 to 135 to finally have it be gone. So I had to loose 25 pounds and get down to a fairly low amount of body fat, my stomach fat is still the last to go, but having that back fat gone finally is just amazing! I have lost 10-15 pounds before always starting around 160 and never saw a change until I lost closer to 20 pounds.
  • I have only recently noticed the back fat giving way to the weight loss and I'm at the 25 pounds lost point. I dropped inches in my waist and bust first, then last week I noticed my back has smoothed out almost completely. Keep an eye on your bust measurements and I'd say when you start seeing those creep down, that may be the best judge of when your back will slim too.

Also, I do pullovers. I don't do mine on a medicine ball or anything fancy - I just stand upright and use one 5 pound dumb bell for resistance. You can find a few different beginner examples abound online.
  • oh thats good..cause ive noticed my bust cup size going down..its the first to go it seems..ive gone from a d to a c already and getting smaller.. i hope i dont end up looking like a de-flated cow udder..(Been there done that breastfed type thing)
  • Ah, I can't wait for the day that my back fat disappears. That and my double chin. I can suck in my stomach if necessary, and I don't have too much of a problem with my arms and legs, but those two areas drive me crazy as there is no good way to hide them!
  • Yeah, I'm 106lbs down and still have quite a bit of back fat. Its depressing!
  • I have lost the deep back rolls and have smoothed out, but I still have back fat. I think I have lost more in my upper chest and legs and butt. The rest seems to be more even in reducing. Being an apple shape, of course I wish to see more waist reducing than anything else!

It's all genetic. Can't change the way our bodies store or release fat.
