Sex Drive After Weight Loss

  • Has your sex drive changed after weight loss?
Mine has actually decreased. I'm not sure why.
  • I haven't experienced any noticeable difference but my sex drive has always been on the low side. I have heard a lot of people on here saying that their's has lowered quite a bit since they started losing weight though so I'm pretty sure what your experiencing is normal.
  • This is most likely going to be TMI that I am providing about moi but I'm going to throw it out there.....

When I was 25 pounds heavier (and at my highest weight EVER) my sex drive was through the roof. But looking back....it wasn't a physical thing, it was mental. I didn't desire myself as a person so I relied on others to desire me. Now that I am 25 pounds lighter, I no longer have that desire to feel desired because I am now able to feel better about me all by myself.

Bottom line is, it's not that my sex drive has changed but my attitude about sex has.
  • Mine has, but it's I think because I'm more tired from working out and stuff.

Right there . . . that's my frame of mind in a nutshell, well said Shan
  • Like Lucid said, it may be the exercise. My husband has lost 170 pounds. A few years ago, around the first 80 pounds of weight loss, we went almost 2 weeks without sex. It was the only time in our, then 13 year long, marriage that we had gone that long without it.

I was frustrated and a little offended, so we had a big discussion about it. We figured out it must have been the exercise. At that time, he was running for 3 miles followed by a couple hours of tennis 5 days a week. All of his "releases" were being taken care of through the exercise.

On a side note, he doesn't exercise that much anymore, as he found it slowed his weightloss.
  • Maybe my husbands drive has increased now that i look better and mine has stayed the same?
I do work out so maybe it the exercise.
  • I'm not sure if there's been a change in my actual sex drive, but there has been a change in sex quality. On top of my weight loss, my husband is down about 20 pounds since the new year and we just seem to be... fitting together better? Because things are even more enjoyable these days, I have found myself initiating more often.
  • mine seems about the same, although i do have less time for it.
  • Mine has stayed the same, but I think Im more self conscious now..
  • it could be a decrease in estrogen and other hormones that is causing it. i have ZERO sex drive because i am not producing estrogen
  • I would seriously like it if mine decreased as I have the stronger libido of the two of us and always have. One of my motivators to lose weight the last time was to make my husband more attracted to me. Didn't work. Well, I should say, yes, it did work. he was more attracted to me, but it didn't make our sex life any better. Our problem is incompatible sleeping patterns and lack of privacy/time at other times.
  • in the past mine has skyrocketed when I've lost weight
