Teeter Tottering

So, I had to put my beloved 17 year old cat to sleep last night. :( I had him since I was 21 years old -- a wedding gift from my husband who passed away many many years ago. They are together now. But anyway, I am teetering back and forth between not eating anything or eating everything in sight. I can't seem to find a happy medium. I'm afraid to NOT eat because I made that mistake early on in my weight loss process and it really messed me up. But I know that endulging in a big creasy cheeseburger isn't going to help me either.

I'm really just venting at this point. This too shall pass.

Its really important that you eat, even if its small. I try to eat 6 small meals a day, which means i try to eat every 3-4 hours.

I see you from Richmond! Not too far from me at all!

BIG  I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss...animals are family and it is so hard to lose a best friend.

Make a pig pot of bowl of something: soup, steamed veggies, fruit, something that will be right in front of you that you can devour and not mess up. This will allow you to release whatever emotion you are feeling, fill your self up for the loss is the emptiness you are feeling and still not blow what progress you have gained. Keep communicating to us so that we can help you.

Thanks everyone for the hugs and well wishes. I appreciate it!

So, to keep myself accountable... I ate the following today.

Breakfast: 2 cups of coffee with sugar free creamer (100 calories)
Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat bun & a diet Dr. Pepper. (290 calories)
Snack: Fruit cup & handfull of sourdough pretzels (220 calories)
Dinner: One beer, chips and salsa (350'ish)

OK, so not a substantial dinner but this is all I can do today. I didn't go above my calorie limit but for some reason I feel like I ate TERRIBLY! I typically stay away from carbs so that's probably why. And I'm too exhausted to work out.

But tomorrow is another day! :-)

I'm so sorry about your loss. It's hard enough to lose a pet, but when your pet was also a link to a loved one who's passed away, it's twice the blow to your heart. Time and care will heal you better than any amount of food will, and I'm sure you know that.

Dorothy52's suggestion of soup is a really good one--it's comforting food, but it's also filling without being highly caloric. Treat yourself to making a big pot of it.

Again, I'm very sorry for your losses. You gave your kitty a wonderful long life full of love and he was a lucky little guy.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Nothing can replace a dear and beloved pet, but I hope you feel better soon.

I am so sorry for your loss. Last night my kitty went in to the vet w/jaundice and she's extremely sick. In fact right now I'm sitting here w/my phone on speaker waiting to talk to the doctor to see what the next step will be.

Just like with anything else you have to put one foot in front of the other. I hope you're doing better sweetheart

I'm sorry for the loss of your kitty; it's not easy. I second the suggestion to have some soup; it's comforting and very filling. For some reason I find oatmeal and popcorn comforting too.

Hugs to you.

Aww that's hard! Its hard when we lose a great friend/family member! I bet your kitty, he wouldn't want you to back track in your progress!

Shannon in ATL 02-23-2011 12:33 PM

Sorry about your kitty, honey.

Your food wasn't terrible at all. You probably do feel ick from the carbs, and maybe the sodium in the chips. Maybe because your cals were a little low with the emotional drain, as well. Drink a lot of water today, get in some protein and that feeling will pass.

Aw :hug::hug: I'm very sorry for the loss of your precious kitty. 17 years is a heck of a long time to live with someone who is always there to curl up on your lap when you are having a hard day, or just love you more than anything in the world no matter what. I'm so sorry.
