Default The scale is refusing to move

Title speaks for itself. I overindulged somewhat over the Christmas period, initially I gained 7 lb, although I realise much of that was water weight due to additional salt. Got rid of it in three weeks. And for the last two weeks the scale has just switched back and forth by 2 lbs, but never gone down. I realise fluctuations are perfectly normal, but I've been back on track for five weeks now, so I should see it move to the left.

I'm an expert calorie counter and have already lost 75lb (approx), so I know it's not due to me counting inaccurately. For cardio I dance five times a week, fast (HR between 70 and 84 % of max) and do two one-hour runs a week. I eat about 1850. According to this I should be losing about 1.5 lb a week. Yet for the last few weeks, nothing. Zilch. I drink nearly three litres of water a day, so I don't think it's due to water retention. This week I gained an lb back.

This is so frustrating. Any ideas what's going on?

Drop calories to 1500 for a day or two before bouncing back to 1850. It sounds like you're doing everything right and those two pounds are just choosing to be stubborn. Hang in there.

Change up your exercise routine, maybe? I have read that your body can get too used exercises and if you change it up every so often then it revs up your metabolism. Have you tried weight training?

Sounds like a little plateau to me. Since you have been doing the same excercise and the same food I think you should mix it up for a week. Change your excercise, have a cheat meal, cycle your calories for a week (1200 on Sunday, 1800 on Monday, 1500 on Tuesday).

Although I am stuck too... but I think I know my problem this week! I just totally empathize with the frustration. Today I am going to work out a calorie cycling plan for me for this coming week... along with cycling high protein days.

Plateaus suck for sure, but hang in there. It sounds like you are working hard. The scale will move again in time. Keep OP and work through it. You might want to try to find motivation that doesn't come from the scale.
