Default How Long Did It Take You To Reach Your Goal?

For me, the hardest thing about this process is the time I know it's going to take. Hearing from all of you how long it took you to reach goal will remind me that it's a marathon and not a sprint!

So, please share!

Forgive the typo in the title -- there was no way to fix it!

Oh my gosh! Congratulations! How did you do it? Was the loss linear? Did you stick to it without taking breaks? What about plateaus? How long did they last? That's so exciting!

It took me 55 weeks to lose the first 100 pounds and then another 6 months to lose another 20...

I fixed your title, btw!

So far just over a year, but December was kind of a wash (didn't lose, but didn't gain either).

Hi! Calorie counting, and lots and lots of exercise. Six days a week! I was pooped. I stayed consistent, never binged, kept my eye on the prize. Plateaus? Ugh! I had three. I skipped weigh days when that happened because it felt discouraging. I simply added 15 more mins of cardio to burn a few more calories. I never gave up! Just remain focused, and think of all the reasons you want to do it. Nothing is impossible!

One year the first time (165lbs to 120lbs)

6 months the second time (165lbs but 9 months pregnant, 141lbs after all the post-partum junk cleared out - TMI - and then 6 months down to 133ish)

I am finding the second time much harder - maybe because I was only 20 the first time and I am now 27.

Goldiloxx,
Slow and steady. It took me 36 weeks to lose 32 lbs with one hour of outdoor cycling almost everyday. Added weight traning 7 months in which helped change my shape (particulary squats and lunges.)
Just like guamvixen, I was very consistent. I was motivated by a 2 week vacation in Tulum, and was no way going to be fat on the beach. I am glad I was patient and persisted.

4 months, 3 weeks down 43 lbs! Not at goal yet, but some might consider this goal weight...so thought I'd post....
calorie counting & running 4-5 days/week - basically doing whatever makes me sweat alot! Started running 30 secs, walk 2 mins and now I run 18-20 miles per week!

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

OMG looking at the avatars on these pics is amazing, the transformations..
Yeah it took me about 2-3 years... which included a lot of failed attempts.. LONG plateaus and all the rest.. Was all worth it of course.

Every day that I stay on plan I've reached my goal. 10 pounds down so far, that's a goal I've reached.

Remember, you will be getting smaller the whole way. It's not like a year from now you'll be the same weight and the next day it will be gone. You'll see changes all along the way.

7 months and 2 days and I did it by calorie counting and keeping up my exercise ( I have been an avid exerciser for 4 years). The key is to remain consistent, even through the plateaus......

It took me 17 months to lose the first 175 pounds, which put me to my original goal to be in a normal BMI. The next 15 took 4 months, which was more trial and error of trying to find my maintaince sweet spot.

Today is the beginning of my 19th month of reaching my original goal. Yay!

Oh, I am a calorie counter.

I hit a "feels-like-goal" right around the one year mark. I'm still losing, but extremely slowly and they're just vanity pounds at this point. I figured I'd be at goal around a size 8 and I'm already in 6's, so I'm in limbo. I've reached my goal number, but I've surpassed my goal size.

Calorie counting, vigorous cardio and weight training, and commitment to goal are what got me here.
