I gave today

I have never done one of these Shame posts before because I am usually too embarrassed. Today I had DQ which I am not supposed to have. I had a small blizzard! I am sad. I don't know if I will be able to begin again tomorrow. I don't know if I should feel bad because I do believe in having a treat day once a week.

Dont sweat it! At least u had a small. I say next time treat yourself to a new shirt or a manicure or something like that. We all have our slip ups but u gotta bounce back. I believe that you can do it!

Kahokkuri 01-30-2011 11:19 PM

Don't worry! I had multiple slip-ups this weekend and I'm still rallying today. You can definitely be OP tomorrow; it'll feel especially great to overcome this momentary feeling of weakness.

I don't know what a DQ is???

But I guess the most important thing is to get straight back on plan ..... and not let it make you slip further .... I'm sure eveyone slips now and then :)

Dairy Queen.

The banana split blizzard is my fav. BUT being thinner is even funner!!!

That's what we tell ourselves as we drive by! :D

One blizzard isn't bad in the mix of things, just press on and be thankful that it's only an occasional occurrence now, instead of the everyday norm.

Kahokkuri 01-30-2011 11:36 PM

Dairy Queen is a chain restaurant mostly specializing in ice cream treats.

Hey, a small really isn't so bad. That's a pretty decent sized treat in my opinion. It's probably less calories than going out to dinner would have been (which is what most people would do for a treat.) Just don't make it a habit and you'll be fine.

Don't feel bad. Don't start again tomorrow, just keep going. You didn't really slip up. :)

Katydid77 01-30-2011 11:42 PM

I looked it up and most small blizzards are between 470-570 calories.

That isn't bad at all really. Certainly nothing to let yourself get down over.

In fact, I think that is a good idea for a 'splurge'. I might do that myself next time I want something that seems indulgent. :) I mean it's beats the 1000 calorie stuff.

I agree with oodlesofnoodles. you didn't slip up, don't start again, just keep going! You can do it!

I just checked and the most calories I saw for a small was 345 ish. So a small is not bad at all!!! You did good. Once a week is not a huge deal, depending on your diet plan.

Remember its 1 day at a time. Each day is a NEW day to be on plan. Truth be told I had Monkey bread last night as a treat, and today I am totally on plan. So let each day be new for you.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

I thought that too when I first looked it up, but the first category is serving size in grams.

It's the second set of numbers that is calories. Unless I'm still reading it wrong. Which is entirely possible. lol

STOP beating yourself up right now! Choose to see it as less of a slip and more of a success = You ordered a small blizzard and thats it. You lived your life and made a decent, sensible choice. You could have done without it in the loosing phase, but you did have it. You didn't order a Large Blizzard, you didn't order a burger basket to go with it. You ordered a small blizzard for the cost of 345 calories. Now, plan the blizzard or calories into your day, be accountable for it. Recognize what happened and move on to have a great day tomorrow.

You have to live and make sensible choices after you loose the weight too. This phase is when you learn how to do it.

:)

Just because you ate one off-plan item, don't think about it as giving you a choice to begin or not begin again tomorrow.

It's not "begin" because your best choice is to continue.
It's not "tomorrow" because you just continue today.

Don't give yourself permission to do anything else off-plan just because you ate one item (or even had it been one meal off-plan). Just pick up and more forward on-plan.

(It happens to all of us and it's what you do as a result that counts in the long run.)

If you got a flat on the freeway would you then climb out of your car with a knife and go slash the other three tires, because one's bad and so the rest is moot, as well?

No, of course you wouldn't!

So if you wouldn't do it to your car, why do it to your body? You slipped up and had a small problem with an unplanned treat - that is NO reason to not get back on your diet tomorrow. In fact, quite the opposite - you slipped up, so now it is time to do your best and head down that scale!

gagalu 01-31-2011 03:55 AM

the next time you feel yourself slipping, go for a small soft serve ice cream cone. those are only 150, where even a SMALL blizzard can run you 800 calories. having a treat day is fine, but just keep in mind that a treat doesn't have to be an explosion of calories and something like a 130 cal cookie would fulfill the same purpose.
