Default Past New Year's Newbies

How many of you out there are past New Year's Newbies? I thought I'd ask in order to get a motivational thread up for the newcomers arriving soon. We all know the statistics out there are grim for New Years starts. How did you get to where you are today? How did you stick with it?

I didn't start at New Year's, but I did start just prior to all the holiday hoopla, November 9th. You can read about my story from the link in my signature.

Well, I only started a month ago but it was the best decision I've made in a while. I'd been doing Sparkpeople but wasn't losing so I knew something had to change (and I knew I needed an outside force, since I clearly wasn't going to do it.)

I joined WW a few weeks ago, made small changes like cutting back on my rice portions, beefing up my protein servings and having way more veggies and a bit more fruit than I was before. It allowed me to cut back on about 400 calories a day without being hungry at all.

My weight has continued to go down, I feel much better, I'm sleeping better, walking regularly and feeling like this is a way I life I can keep for ever.

Whatever plan you choose, New Person, make sure it's something you can live with - not something you go "off" when you are "bad" and then get back on when you are good. That's probably what got you here in the first place.

And make the commitment to stick to it! Eliana committed to her plan for a year, no matter what. I've chosen my birthday in April as my "stick to the plan until this date not matter what" date. It made it easier when I started because it took some of the pressure off, but now I hardly think of that date at all.
