I eat the same things all the time, it really helps with my over eating issues and the planning, prepping process. So when I vary it makes it extra special, yesterday I got sooo excited at finding a tin of kidney beans in my cupboard and enjoyed them more than anyone should EVER enjoy kidney beans
I do. It's so easy. I have some variations of course, but it's pretty much the same things all week. It makes it so simple to buy what groceries I need, taking inventory of what I need to buy is quick and at a glance. I like simplicity it this rocks for me
I definitely do! It makes calorie counting much easier. If fact, I've had oatmeal every morning for the last 2 months or so. Change the additives to vary the flavor, but still oatmeal. I like it that way.
I've got 2-3 lunches/dinners that I use on a regular basis. I'm sure at some point these recipes will be replaced.
I have found that I tend to eat the same things for breakfast and lunch, but I am constantly stressing about dinner. I am also just learning to cook, and need to feed my 8yo niece, my 5yo nephew, my mother and my sister. I am trying to keep things healthy without boring them.
I will definitely be doing more planning for the rest of the month, so the food will be more similar.
When I first started, I tried to stave off boredom with lots of variety. As the weeks have gone on, I find that I eat a lot of standby favorites and sometimes eat the same dinner a few days in a row.
Variety's important to me, but so is convenience. It's awesome to know without looking how many calories are in that english muffin with cheese, egg, and tomato or that vegetable pizza. It's nice to get a break from weighing and figuring up new recipes to enter them into Fitday (though I still write it all down), so relying on a few standards sometimes is a good idea.
Streamlining your plan is fine. It may be nice, if your schedule permits and if variety helps keep you on your plan, to think in terms of a set number of favorites rather than choosing the exact same foods each day, but I suspect that any of us who don't have personal chefs probably have staple meals. It works well.
I do this to extremes. I think that on about 85% of days 75% of my calories have come from the exact same sources for at least a year now: cottage cheese, baked chicken breast, wheat and oat brans, whole wheat bread, yogurt, chocolate (not a lot, but everyday before bed). The other 25% of my calories don't vary that much either: some sort of vegetables, usually. Every once in a while, there is a sea change--I used to eat a lot of popcorn, now I eat more 100% whole wheat bread, I used to eat oatmeal with applesauce, now I eat cottage cheese--but they happen about once every six months.
My breakfast is the same 7 days a week. My lunch during the week (5 days) is the same every day. My lunch is the same on Saturday and Sunday. Dinner always varies, but it's always lean protein and veggies. I have done this for years. Of course I will have a different meal on occasion, but for the most part, everything is the same.
I work out of town so a benefit to my eating plan has been that on Sundays I cook, portion out servings and get them ready for the little cooler. So I too end up portioning out a lot of the same things like chicken salad. brocoli and cheese, oriental coleslaw, cottage cheese etc. I also find there are certain things on my plan that I find more satisfying so I tend to eat them more often. I work with a guy who is always telling our clients "when you fail to plan you plan to fail". I find this is true for me when it comes to sticking to my WOE..
I have about three different breakfasts I rotate through. And probably a handful of lunches, with a few variations (beef on my salad rather than chicken, for instance).
Now that I think about it, dinner is pretty limited to maybe ten options. Sometimes I'll make something special or different on the weekend (like Saturday I tried a wonderful new brussels sprout recipe), but it doesn't always make it into the "rotation".
I do it alllll the time!!! for weeks at a time, sundays i eat whatever i want and dont count calories at all but other than that i pretty much stick to the same thing day in a nd day out!!! works for me
I eat the same things day in and day out with just a couple variations of other same things. It is comforting and easy and I already know the calorie counts.
I eat the same things all morning and afternoon. Dinner is really the only time I eat differently. Sometimes I change things a little bit (ham instead of turkey, milk and cereal instead of oatmeal), but for the most part I've been eating the same stuff for the past year and a half. I'm totally fine with it.
8:00 packet of oatmeal
10:00 string cheese
12:00 turkey sandwich and vanilla yogurt
3:00 24 almonds
5:00 piece of fruit
6:30 dinner
8:00 piece of fruit
I'm glad to know there's so many who do the same thing! I was feeling kind of guilty because I perhaps wasn't getting enough variety, but hey it's better than the 4-5 different fast food meals I used to rotate through.
Yep, because I have so many food intolerances and I'm probably the pickiest eater in the world, lol. I'm really predictable. No matter what restaurant I go to, I always order the same stuff too. Stick with what you know.
I'm also a COMPLETE control freak when it comes to food, hence why I eat the same things over and over again.
