which number on the scale to believe??
So each Tuesday morning I do my weekly weigh in. Well, last week, I had forgotten the exact number (187.6 or 187.2) so about 10 minutes later i stepped on and i was 2 pounds heavier! I wanted to believe the 1st number of course, but also wanted to be true to myself.
So this week, I did the same thing, and the second time i stepped on I was 1 pound lighter and it was maybe 20 seconds after i stepped on the first time. So now... I dont know which to believe. And usually after the 2nd time, the 3rd and 4th are the same...
Anyone else have this problem?

Also, it's digital, if that helps. I can't make any adjustments or anything.

I would take the lowest one!
Someone in another thread, mentioned, you might need to change the batteries in the digital scales if they start acting funky.

I second the battery changing. They might not be low enough to stop weighing...just low enough to mess with your head. In the meantime? I'm all about taking the lowest number.

My old scale did this too, i would try to weigh a few times and did an average. I think a lot has to do with how you step on to it and if you are standing straight with your weight evenly distributed.
I wouldn't worry too much...just try to take an average maybe? or the number that shows up the most?

hehe, I think it does have to do with how you stand on it. I was going to ask whats the best way to stand on the scale, but it seemed silly.

Stand on it, trace your feet with a marker, and then make sure you stand in the footprints every time. What's important is that you're consistent, so you can see whether or not you're really going down over time.
(and I would suggest finding the "lightest" spot, and doing your tracing there )

For a long time I used an old scale that would vary on average by 1-2 lbs, usually within 1.5 lbs. My new one is better (it only jumps random lbs once in a while and then usually settles down).
But to work with that, I write down a range for the day if there isn't one consistent number. Like, if the number keeps going between 162 and 162.5, for the day I'll write down 162-162.5 and I personally take the larger number on official WI day, just in case.
But the range lets me see if I'm moving better than one number because of how my scale works. So if one day the range is 162-162.5, and the next day it's 161.5-162, there's that 162 again but this time it's the HIGH number, not the low one.

I write the first number down. I usually weigh before and after (about 5 min) I pee. I don't know why, I guess I just like seeing the scale go lower instantly lol.

As an obsessive weigher myself LOL, I would only step on it once and use that number. For me, stepping on multiple times to see if it changes just causes me extra anxiety that I don't need......

I usually weigh myself 3 or 4 times (or more!) and I have to get at least 3 numbers that are consistent for that to be my "official" number for the week!

Me too. I tried stepping on the scale multiple times and it only frustrated me so now I just step on it once and that is the number I stick with. My scale isn't that accurate either especially if I step on it several times, so I learned to only step on it once.

Mine does this too. The first number is always way different, then on the second weigh it picks a number and sticks with it no matter how many times I step on after that. I usually go with the second number since it seems like the scale has "made up its mind."
