Default Reasons not to binge...

Which could also translate to "reasons not to take that first bite of candy."

My Halloween candy is exerting a gravitational pull and I am trying to resist, so I'm going to list some of the reasons I can think of that I should be strong.

1. It will make me feel less well, physically, mentally and spiritually.

2. Getting back on track is much harder than going off said track.

3. My jeans would likely feel tighter tomorrow.

4. I would either dodge WI in the morning, or have an unhappy one.

5. Overeating is very hard on the heart and makes it work much harder than it should have to. Since mine is already overburdened just taking care of my overlarge body, I should be kind to it.

6. I would have that puffy-face look tomorrow.

7. My self-esteem would take a nose-dive. Since I binge in secret, it would make me feel like my behavior, and by extension my self is not acceptable.

8. I want to LOSE weight, not gain.

9. Binging is a waste of time - it would shoot my entire evening, which would end up being neither profitable nor enjoyable.

10. It would result in my authentic self getting further lost in my fat suit.

That's all i can think of at present, but if I come up with any more, I'll come edit them in! Anyone have any thoughts?

11. Binges make my hot flashes worse.

12. Binges make me sleep poorly.

POUNDS BEGONE!!!!

Made it through last night. Today I am bummed by lack of progress on the scale, but determined to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Hmmmm. You've about covered it, Babette!

My usual list o' reasons not to binge includes:

1) Because my weight loss program is an ongoing game to me, extreme binges endanger my ability to win the current round of said game.

2) Moderate binges are ok once in awhile BUT they come with the danger that they will trigger days and days of increasingly extreme binges, so they must be taken in very small doses.

3) Binges upset my stomach and make me feel like an overstuffed sausage.

4) Binges make me feel out of control in all areas of life and that makes me feel anxious.

5) Excessive behavior (including binges and other kinds) is never a good idea in life. Moderation, rationality and sanity are my goals.

6) Binges remind me of past battles with bullemia, which is a serious condition that damages my body. Binges make me feel I might go back to that pattern and so it's best not to have them.

7) Binges impair my ability to think clearly and to be productive in life.

Babette, don't give up on the NOT!!! Step away from the candy. Throw it out and let the little kids a ... or hide in the dark when they ring the bell and don't answer!!!

Thanks, Amarantha. I have not succumbed to the lure of said candy. I intend to give the leftovers to my skinny son when the last trick-or-treaters have gone.
