I knew this past week and the next week would be hard. I had my sister's bachelorette party this past Saturday and I drank a lot of booze. Which made me tired and craving carbs on Sunday. Monday was my b-day and my friend (who shares the same birthday) and I drank margaritas... Which left me tired and craving carbs on Tuesday. The crap I did eat, left me with heartburn... so I was quick to get back to eating veggies and lean protein.
Now what has been interesting to me... is that exercise has been hard. There has been a lot going on and I have only gone to the gym once in the last five days... but I am DYING to get back again this afternoon (I was wondering if I could lift weights and then run on the TM? Both in one day??). I am packing my sneakers for my weekend away so I can run. My eating in the evenings has not been the best... but my daytime lunches and snacks have been pretty well on track.
It has been interesting to see which of my habits have been easy to keep up with during the hard days. I just ate my Cafe Steamer with an added pile of spinach. I am packing fruit to grill this weekend (grilled peaches, nectarines and pineapple... and I am thinking about skewering grapes and seeing what happens if I grill those) I bought zucchini and onions to skewer and grill for snacking (I should remember to pack some yummy spices for those).
What new habits are YOU finding easy to stick with in times of stress/vacation/etc.?
Drinking LOTS of water really helps me. Especially when I'm in a social situation with booze. I make my self drink two (usually pint size) glasses of water for every 1 drink I order. It really slows things down.

I've done this for 20 years. Sure, it's nice to run and lift on different days—to give your body a break and keep it fresh for both weights and cardio—but it isn't required. I run 8 or 9 miles and then lift for 2 1/2 to 3 hours immediately afterward.
