Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
--Because I'm overweight and I'm tired of being so? I don't think I have some deep-set reason, other than I'm heavy and losing weight is going to make me a healthier person.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
--Right now, I'm just trying to get back on plan after two months of being wonky.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
-- my SO had put on weight and texted me when she reached 182lbs, freaking out. Since she wanted to lose weight, I needed to lose weight and we were finally in a position to do so, we started dieting/overhauling our lifestyle. There were also some pretty awful pictures posted on facebook of me at the same time where i suddenly realized how fat I was....

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
-- I really like the elliptical machine but I'll take a long walk with a friend any day

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
-- Frozen yogurt with berries. Yum!

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
--My girlfriend is pretty awesome and my bestie at school started dieting with us. So she is pretty amazing support too. Actually, my whole family and most of my friends have been really supportive in their own ways

Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
--I'm sure. But I'm attempting not to dwell on things like that

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
--Ummm...my entire life? Camping trips, vacations, everything? I was a competitive dancer overweight, I played soccer heavy, I have friends, and I've pretty much been varying degrees of overweight through all of it

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
Because I'm tired of being overweight and unhealthy, and I want to be able to run around and play with my kids.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
To get under 180 is my current mini-goal, that seems to be the number my body always stops at. As far as getting healthy goes, I'm working towards getting into a "normal" BMI range now that I'm out of the "obese" range.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
I had started gaining back some weight I had lost before, and knew I had to do something about it before I gained it all back.

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
Walking!

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
Oat bars.

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
None really, which is why I like it here.

Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
When I was younger, not so much anymore. Although once, a few months ago, a complete stranger made a rude comment to me.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
I can't really think of anything. I've been overweight my entire adult life and I've definitely put off doing a lot because of it.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
So that I'm not worried about the harmful things I'm doing to my body. So that I can feel confident about the way I look. So that I can live a long, joyous life with my husband (and any possible future kids).

Recent? Umm.. no diet coke... breaking the addiction and to get back to pre-vacay weight. UGH

Jeans....

Swimming!

Water, water, water.

Hubby. Though he does not need to lose any, he tries to maintain a healthy way of eating with me.

Oh geez. I've been overweight out of the womb. I was over ten pounds when born, and I only grew from there. I've heard a lot of things, but got most of it from my older brothers. Siblings can be sooo cruel.


What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
Going on amusement park rides that I'm not too sure if I fit in.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
I've always been a little overweight.
For as long as I can remember, I've always
been the chubby kid.


What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?

To be AT LEAST 135. I was 135
in the summer of '09.


What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
I guess high school did. There's
a lot of tiny people where I live and I
just wanted to make a change.

Dancing by far!

I really like fruits. Especially
watermelon.

My friends, family, and fiancé. I truly
do thank them for all their love and support.

No. I've never had that problem
as a child. However, I've always
been around my brothers who are
stick thin and I always felt out of
place as a kid.

My weight has never stopped me
from doing anything. I've gone to Disney Land,
Sea World, Florida beach, etc.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
-I have a multitude of reasons! My main one currently is that I'll be applying for medical school next year. No one wants a fat doctor!


What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
-I want to be at around 135 lbs. I also want to be "fitter" as far as endurance and stamina goes.


What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
-Nothing in particular. I've always wanted to, and i guess I just decided to one day! The med school thing might have given me the last boost I needed to start.


What is your favorite exercise or activity?
-ZUMBA


What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
-Blackberries and eggs (not together )


What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
-My mom is really supportive of me. She wants this for me probably more than I want it for myself.


Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
-I don't remember ever really being made fun of, but then I wasn't overweight until my high school years, and even then it didn't get bad until college. However, I've had relatives tell me I needed to lose weight.


What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
-I've done a lot of fun things being overweight! I guess one main thing I've done is take a trip to Disney World/Universal Studios. Some of those rides were tight!! I'm actually going back in August...hopefully 15-20 lbs smaller!

-I was tired of being unhappy with my body and wanted to be able to run/play like I used to.

-To get under 140. A little ways to go, but that's ok. =)

-Just rolled over one day and decided that was it.

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
-Running.

-An ice cold glass of water and an apple. YUM!

-My husband is fabulous. =)

-My older sister and mom used to poke fun at me back in the day (when I was a size 7 no less).

-I can't think of just one... I'd never let my weight hold me back (except from wearing a bikini )

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
To be happy and proud of my body again. To keep my health for many years to come and eliminiate (as much as possible) problems that run in my family.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
My overall goal is to lose roughly 40 lbs. I also want to train to run a half marathon with my 64 year old aunt.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
Realizing that I have gained so much weight without even realizing it and that if I do not do something now, its just going to get harder!

Hiking, Dancing!, Weight Lifting

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?

I want to be the HOT older lady. I decided i didn't like the way my body looked heading into my 30s, and it would only get tougher to do something about it from there on! Seriously. I was only given one body. I believe we should be good stewards over EVERYTHING God trusts us with, yet I neglect my body.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
I want to get to 160. Since I got to 176 last time, i want to bypass the 170s and go on to the 160s. i also want my short shorts to stop giving me a wedgy.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
The younger people at my school, and older people at my school who were in better shape than me!

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
i have to say running with the wii on the rebounder. I like the runner's high. Next, is swimming.

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
Greek Yogurt (the berry kind), tastes like cheesecake.

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
None and that is why I NEED 3fc.

I was always bigger, but not fat, really muscular and atheletic looking. I got called fatty though. And then when I was an adult an old friend's first thing he said to me was "boy, you have put on alot of weight!--i was overweight then.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
Go to the beach and wear a bikini--shy as all get out and hid in the waves, but I did it.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
Because I realized that the earth doesn't revolve around me and what I want, there are people who care about me and want me to stick around as long as I possibly can, and I'm going to try and oblige them. I also want to set a good example for my daughters. They are only 2 years and 8 months old at present, and I'm going to show them healthy while they're still impressionable enough to pick up on it.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
I'd like to be able to run a 5k, but hurt my knee running on the ice this winter and haven't been able to run the same since. So I've changed that to running 1 mile on a treadmill. My current weight loss goal is to get under 200. It's been forever since my weight started with a 1.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
Mostly it was the birth of my second daughter. I'm not sure why, but it seemed to be a wake up call for me. Like "Hey there, you have two little people who are looking to you to be around for them. Don't you want to see them grow up and give you grandkids?!"

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
I really enjoy running, but I haven't been able to truly run in a long time. My favorite activity to do at my current weight is dancing. It's fun, and I get to be creative.

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
Yogurt. I LOVE yogurt. Put some fresh berries on top of it and it's amazing. Occasionally I add a dab of Lite Cool Whip as well. Sooo yummy.

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
My hubby, who is trying his best to help out. And my kids, who somehow know just when to say to me "Mommy, you pretty!"

Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
Oh heck yeah. In high school a guy friend told me I had huge legs. I honestly think he meant it as a compliment (like as in I had muscular legs) but it hurt. I've been made fun of for my weight since grade school tho, my little brother and sister used to call me fat all the time.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
Going to the lake and swimming, going down the water slide, laying out on the big raft in the middle of the lake, going tubing, running around the beach... All in my swimsuit.

I know I feel a lot better when I'm smaller. I got to be 190 before I got pregnant with my son and felt awesome, I can only imagine how 130-140 would feel.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
It's time. I had my second baby and I'm tired and having a hard time doing all the things I need to do with them all day. I need to be healthier for myself and to do all the things with them that I want to do.

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
Hiking is my favourite form of exercise.

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
A big pile of sugar snap peas and maybe some hummus, yum!

My husband is an amazing source of support.

I've been overweight my whole life, and was teased multiple times throughout my schooling.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
I got to the point quickly in my life where I did not allow my weight to hold me back from doing what I wanted to to do. I've done tons of fun things, too many to name!

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
Lots of reasons. I have been struggling with my weight for forever. I just want to be done with "losing weight" and learn to maintain a healthy weight. I want to LOOK good! Also Type 2 runs on both sides of both sides of my family.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
Right now, my main focus is getting below 200!

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
My heaviest - nearly 250. I realized if I didn't do something, I was just gonig to keep gaining forever. And I also realized at that time that I no longer fit into "normal" clothes.

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
I love swimming. I have started doing Zumba, which is way fun. And I have been really enjoying running/jogging.

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
Lowfat Cottage Cheese and Fruit. If I knew I could just sit down and eat cheese, I might have started this sooner!

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
My sister is a huge support. My hubby, my parents, my friends... Pretty much everyone in my life has been encouraging.

Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
No. Though... I do have some stories:
Guy at a bar: "You're sexy for a big girl!"
Woman at Victoria's Secret: "We don't sell XL here." (And I didn't ask her. And I wasn't looking for XL - was looking for L. AND I know for a FACT they sell XL, b/c I have seen them.)
Another Woman at Victoria's Secret: (When she handed me a 38D instead of a 36D like I asked) "Well, the sizes run a little small here."

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
Wear a bikini! I bought a bikini years ago "for when I lost weight". I decided it was too pretty to save and started wearing it a few summers ago!

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
I just had my second (and last) baby 5 months ago, and I want to have the body that I've never had before. I want to set a good example for my kids. I've never been really overweight, but I've never been skinny either. And, more importantly, I've never been active. I want my kids to see me as a positive role model.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?

I want to get to 145 (only 2.5 pounds away) because that would be "normal" bmi, instead of "overweight." After that, my next goal is 135. I haven't been 135 since high school. I've NEVER been 125 in my adult body, and I'd like to try for that.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
Having baby #2, a good friend's amazing weight loss, and my little sister's surprising weight gain.

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
At the gym, I love spinning and the elliptical. Outside I like cycling and hiking.

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
I don't really snack (maybe I should?).

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
My husband (very skinny and fit), my friend Kristin (who recently lost 40 pounds), and my mom.

Has anyone ever made fun of you or said things to you about your weight/size?
No one ever made fun of me, but I've always been very self conscious, and I've read into innocent comments people have made. I also ask "dangerous" questions like "am I fat," and I don't always like the answers I get.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
I rode across Nebraska 3 times (about 450 to 500 miles, depending on the route), and I went on a 100 mile, 10 day backpacking trip on Isle Royale. I have had periods of time in my life when I was fit, but I was still in the "overweight" bmi range.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
I am trying to be healthy for many reasons but the greatest is that I would like to start a family soon and don't want to even try to get pregnant before my body is healthy enough to carry a baby. Also, once I do have a child, I don't want my weight putting any limitations on what I can do with him or her.

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
I started at 380 a month ago and am at 348 today according to my scale. I have a long term goal of 180 with smaller goals along the way. I also want to run a 5 K by next spring

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
I just got plain tired of being so fat. Also, my health has started to be affected a lot lately by the extra weight. It was just time to do something!

What is your favorite exercise or activity?
I love to swim

What is your favorite healthy snack or treat?
I love hummus and veggies as well as fresh fruit

What support do you have outside of 3FC to help you achieve your goals?
My mother is on this journey with me

Yes. Many people. Mainly, they have made comments about how tall I am though... not how fat I am. I am 6'2" and stick out like a sore thumb.

Why are you trying to be healthy or lose weight?
Oh, let me count the ways.
  • To lower blood pressure (done)
  • To lower cholesterol (not sure it's going to work)
  • To lower heart rate (done)
  • To enjoy life again (done!)
  • To become more active (done)
  • To be able to stand at my kitchen sink without pain (done)
  • To stop having pains in my feet, knees, and back (done)
  • To be able to cross my legs, clip my toenails, tie my shoes, venture upstairs without breathing heavy (done)
  • To be me again! (done!)

What is your recent getting healthy, weight loss goal(s)?
My goal is to get down to 135 pounds but that's not solid. I'm feeling pretty good at 170 pounds. My real goals are fitness related and my goals change and increase daily.

What prompted you to get healthier and/or lose weight?
I've been working on it for ten years, off and on. But in November my cousin appeared on my doorstep 100 pounds lighter and that set this ball in motion.

No, nothing but sympathetic ears. Fortunately the weight didn't come on until adulthood when people are not as cruel as youth.

What is one of the fun things you've done even though you were overweight?
Being overweight didn't stop me from doing anything, it just made fun things...not so much fun. I still went to the amusement park but it was too hot, too much work, too much pain (feet, lower back, knees) and there was too much anxiety about fitting in the seats.
