Default ughh, I'm gaining

So I am getting really upset, The scale today was just under 185.

I am really watching my sodium. Last night my feet were very swollen and I also have a nasty case of PMS that is going on for like 10 days to the point where my husband is making comments. I was taking a prescription diuretic
which I need to get filled, I am wondering if being out is causing the huge gain.
I mean its a good 6 pounds. I also take a blood pressure med and last visit doc said blood pressure was good, and last night I developed back pain probably from the weight. I have been doing cross country running at least 3 or 4 times a week. The gaining thing has me worried though, as my weight has never been this high. I have been trying to eat better too. Family had pizza tonight, but I had an egg white omelet stuffed with arugula and mushrooms.

Does anyone have a good link for high sodium foods? Did you know cottage cheese is high in sodium, I never knew that. I don't know what to do.

Here's some high sodium foods - http://www.meniett.com/dietary_treat...gh_sodium.html

If you are PMSing and you normally take a diuretic and you are out then it may very well be fluid retention.

Thanks, it does say it can get worse if you stop taking it.
Thanks for the list of high sodium foods.

Pizza!!! No, say it ain't so, it can't be on that list!!!!
Seriously, I have been trying to avoid the pizza. It must be super high sodium, because I can feel it as soon as I eat it, and there are two slices in my fridge, oh no! Thanks again for the list. No I won't eat the pizza, I won't, even though the thought has entered my mind because I read it on the list, no! Its not my pizza, its the family's, I bought it because I didn't want to cook, and you know I was so good I even made myself an alternate meal, that is really hard to do.

I was doing a litle research and found this interesting.High sodium foods cause weight gain.

You would be amazed at how much weight you could lose just by keeping your sodium consumption much lower than you are use to. If you are gaining weight quickly I would bet you eat a lot of high sodium foods. High sodium foods makes the body retain water and therefore the scale goes up on a daily basis. If the sodium is not released then the weight gain has an accumulative affect and you could gain at least 10 pounds in just 3 days. Many processed foods are high in sodium, as well as fast food restaurant items.

rosemarie0007, if you already have high blood pressure, you should definitely be watching your salt intake. But weight loss really is about losing fat, not about water weight and its fluctuations.
