    I have a sweet tooth!

Pizza is another winner for me...not
  • Hi Earthy and Everyone!
    Hi Everyone, Greetings Lurkers!

    Good list Earthy!

I too have a weakness for sweets.

The manager at Godiva waves me in to the shop everytime I walk in the mall, I like to think he thinks I am cute

I usually buy something and he will throw in a few free pieces. I am good about my little Godiva habit. I can eat a piece and save the rest for later. And because I love thier 72% Cocoa Dark Chocolate Demitasse and NOTHING in the world taste like it I have become a chocolate snob Therefore I no longer chomp down a full bag of Hershey or Dove Chocolates like I use too. I rather have good chocolate or none at all. This has been a diet saver.

    Hope this makes sense!
    Ms. Chris
  • 1. Dove dark chocolate bars are pretttttty darn good to. Luckily I don't have a store close enough for Godiva. Dark chocolate is my biggest weakness. I also avoid the freezer section at the store where the have the Godiva ice cream.

    2. Butches white pizza, yummmmmmmm

    3. Milkyway Midnight candy bars

    4. Grape soda (non sugar free)

    5. Chocolate cake

I'm a chocoholic if you've not already figured that out!!!!

    Hello

Chocolate is that soothing lover that embraces you even though your hormones amy be making you crazy

So I was thinking about foods that make me remember. You know that special day, a favorite relative, an old friend. Here are a couple of mine and I would love to hear others.

    1. Coffee- reminds me of my Grandpa, he passed away Feb. 15th this year. i miss him very much.

    2. Fresh bread- my grandma's kitchen.

    3. Rocky Road Icecream- My mom kept us home from school one day just to be with her, it was one of the most fun days of my childhood. She bought us rocky road in the afternoon.

    4. BBQ Ribs- my husband and I first road trip together. We had been vegetarians for over a year, and then well his mom had those ribs in the fridge and they just called to us.

    5. Jello Cheesecake-my husband and I first fight, his mother makes Jello/whipcream cheesecake conglomeration and I refuse to eat it because it's not baked. I have since gotten over my snobbery but I still rather have it baked. It's still a sore spot with the in-laws. Oh well.

    Over and out.

  • This should be called the food forum
    Hi Readers and Contributors!

Remember when your mom had that deep fat fryer right in the kitchen. Unfortunately I do!

Tonight I have been thinking about what foods taste like. According to my sensory panel experts we really only have 4 taste buds, sweet, salty, sour, bitter(?). So then why do we all have food that we love? You would think it would just become so much blandness tasting the same thing over and over. So there must be a texture element to it, the minds memory, and a hormonal reaction.

    What does anyone else think?

    Ms. Chris
  • Memory foods
I think you must be right about foods being associated with memories. Sometimes when you eat a food, then get sick (for what ever reason) you can't eat that food again. I think the opposit must be true. Food is sometimes the foundation upon which we build our traditions and get together around. Think of holidays like Thanksgiving, which is all about eating, and Christmas. Then think about July 4 and Labor Day, both big picnic days. Birthdays require cake and ice cream. Even when you have a tupperware party people expect munchies and beverage to be served. When you go to the ball park you have to buy hotdogs and soda, even though they cost 20 times more than they are worth. Our society revolves around food. Well, enough of that .
I am still thinking of memory foods. There are so many.

  • Absolutely right
America is the only culture in the world that can't sit through a 2 hour movie without eating. And oh have a pigged out before.

And have you ever noticed how if there is an activity involved (movie, baseball game, zoo, whatever) not only do you pay more for the food but the worse it tastes.

I like this thread, talking about how food moves through our lives interests me. Let's keep this up!
