Default motivational sayings!

Not sure if there is a thread like this but I thought it'd be a great one to create. Any sayings you know that keep you on track with your diet? There is one that keeps me on track.. especially late night when I am having bad cravings.

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

I know some people with eating disorders probably use that religiously but just trying to lose weight it helps me when I want to grab for the bag of chips, I use it to realize I have a goal and what I want to achieve.

Does anyone else have any motivating sayings to keep focused?

I keep a list of them. Some of my favorites are from people right here.

"Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight is hard. Choose your hard." Heard it here, don't know who originally said it.

Robin - "The only thing standing between who you are and who you want to be is what you do."

Lori Bell - "DOn't give up this time. Keep on going. If you can't walk, crawl. It is worth every amount of effort you put into it. "

Lyn - "I won't stay fat and be crippled. I won't sit in a chair and watch life go by. I refuse."

From outside the forum:

You've got to say, ''I think that if I keep working at this and want it bad enough I can have it.'' It's called perseverance. - Lee Iacocca

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Don't dig your grave with your own knife and fork. ~English Proverb

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination." (Tommy Lasorda)

"Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right!" (Henry Ford)

One of my favorite expressions I read here at 3FC, but I am so sorry that I don't recall who said it. I have sticky noted it to the refrigerator and the pantry at different times. I tend to over eat/binge when I am lonely so it really fits me well.

"What you are looking for isn't in here!"

The one that's really resonating with me right now is:

"Discipline is simply remembering what you want."

I don't know who originally said it. Any morning when I don't want to get out of bed and do my yoga, or when I'm contemplating eating something when I'm not really hungry, I make myself remember what I'm working toward and what I really want for myself and it helps me get back on track.

The one recently that I read and put in my signature is:

Fall seven times, stand up eight. - Japanese Proverb

It reminds me that it doesn't matter how many times I've failed at keeping the weight off, it only matters that I succeed this time. It also reminds me that we haven't failed until we stop trying. We hear about the success stories, but we don't always here about how many times those people "failed" before becoming successful.

For example:

"Failures" and Successes of...
* 1831 - Lost his job
* 1832 - Defeated in run for Illinois State Legislature
* 1833 - Failed in business
* 1834 - Elected to Illinois State Legislature (success)
* 1835 - Sweetheart died
* 1836 - Had nervous breakdown
* 1838 - Defeated in run for Illinois House Speaker
* 1843 - Defeated in run for nomination for U.S. Congress
* 1846 - Elected to Congress (success)
* 1848 - Lost re-nomination
* 1849 - Rejected for land officer position
* 1854 - Defeated in run for U.S. Senate
* 1856 - Defeated in run for nomination for Vice President
* 1858 - Again defeated in run for U.S. Senate
* 1860 - Elected President (success)

......Abraham Lincoln

Any where along the way when life got Abe down he could have stopped extending himself, but he didn't and ended up as the President of the United States at a time that he was greatly needed.

Mine is: Eat less and exercise more, you fat f**k.

When I quote it here, I usually leave off the last part. I don't leave it off when I'm talking to myself, though.
