Ok guys, today is my chinese cheat day. I didn't really want to do it but I haven't lost even a ounce for a week. I have to bust through this stall. I will keep you all posted and we will see if I have a whoosh of weight loss after this! I have to go to cincinatti children's hospital with my boy tomorrow so it will be a 3 hour trip so I'll be sitting in the car forever maybe I can fit some exercise in tomorrow night.
I should have explained that, sorry! Yes, me and hubby have a horrible addiction and love for chinese food. In our marriage that is just something that we did together to get away, lol. Well, now that we are both dieting we are going to have chinese cheat days. We did this years ago when my hubby lost 60 lbs so I hope this works for us again. I think the extra calories out of no where might get us out of this weight loss stall. At least we are hopeing.
Good idea nelie, I think I'm going to try the feed myself salad before the main food technique. I usually get so full on salad I eat less of the bad stuff...
sorry if i misunderstand your profile but it looks like up to now you've lost a total of 10 pounds, then you had a stall for a week, so you're going to cheat with take away in order to get a whoosh?
in my humble opinion it's more likely your diet plan was not correctly tweaked, so you lost some weight but now it's not working any more. one week is not a plateau, 10 pounds of weight loss is not close to justify a plateau.
i know this post is sounding like i am telling you off, but i really am not, just want to help you. and of course i only say what i understand based on the info you've given
Have you considered learning to make your favorite Chinese dishes at home. I love Chinese food, but I make many of my favorite dishes and control what I put in them. Less salt, no MSG, and of course I fry things less.
It took months (years maybe) of trial and error but my steamed buns are legendary amongst my friends.
Additionally do not underestimate the power of a candle light dinner at home with the husband. It may lead to more exercise than you had planned.
Yes, I always gain one pound from salt and then lose 2 pounds the following day, I know it sounds strange but thats what my body has always done with chinese food. I know you all don't think one week is a stall, I understand that, but its hard when you start out losing 1 pound a day and then bammmm, stuck at 204.2 and I'm telling you even the ounce won't budge. I have been at 1400 cal a day working out at least 30 min cardio and 20min weights...
Yes, knobhdy! You wouldn't believe how much money we have wasted trying that lol! We spent 80 dollars one time on a orange chicken, egg roll, and rice dinner and the chicken was horrible lol, it was so bad the dog wouldn't eat it!
1 lb/day is certainly not normal over time for weight loss although it happens to some people in the very beginning. I'd look at a 2 lb/week average as being very good. Give your body time to adjust
there's nothing wrong with having chinese food a few times a month, i make my own black bean sauce chicken stir fries with noodles very often as well. i just wanted to point to the OP that if there's something wrong with her diet plan, having chinese takeaway will not make it better.
but at the end of the day it comes down to individual choice, responsibility, and well..individuality
sometimes you lose...sometimes you don't. Its normal to expect a 1-2lb loss per week so I understand you are excited about your weightloss but its good to be realistic as well. Have the chinese food but do it as a choice for a normal diet (a little treat once in a while won't hurt) and not as a method to lose more weight. Believe me its frustrating, it took me about a year and a half to lose 60 pounds but a 1-2 pound loss per week is more of a guarantee you will keep it off than a pound a day.
Anyways best of luck and patience my plateau lasted for around a month lol, a week is just your body adjusting.
if you're experiencing a "whoosh" a day or two after eating chinese food, chances are it's got nothing to do with the chinese food itself - it's most likely a coincidence and that whoosh is "caused" from the days prior to it of your being on plan.
