Default Going from being "The Girl Who Lost Weight" to "The New Skinny Girl"

Sorry for being a thread-hog. But, I got a new job (a Gov't gig. Yay!) and I'm going to start working there as my current skinny size (I'm getting used to calling myself skinny). No one there will know me as obese or overweight.

I wonder if this'll be some sort of mind trip for me. Will I feel like a poser? Will people think I'm naturally skinny? Will they look at me and be able to tell? Will they think, "Oh yeah. She used to be overweight."?

Part of it is kind of thrilling, too. I can start the job as....ME. The real ME, not the ME who was buried beneath 66 pounds of excess fat.

How exciting!

Congratulations on both the weight loss and the new job! No one will be able to tell. Just be the sexy, confident real YOU. You'll do great! Good luck!

My sister lost over a hundred pounds and started a new job, and when she finally got the nerve to mention it to a few people there (some months in), she was flatly disbelieved: they thought she was joking and that they could "just tell" she was one of those "naturally skinny" types.

So no, they won't be able to tell.

Congratulations on your weight loss and your job! I've been where you are in the past and it's great - you will feel so good about yourself and feel like you "fit in" better than ever before. You have to decide if you feel like telling people about your journey because then it is "out there" and a topic of conversation. It's a personal thing with me so I chose not to tell people about my weight loss. I didn't want it to keep coming up (or at least that was my fear). So, just a thought before you start. Good luck!

Ahh, I look forward to that, TT. Thanks!

I doubt I'll say anything to my new work friends anytime soon. We'll see how things progress.

Congratulations!
I agree-- no one will know!!!
People I meet now think I am naturally thin. It cracks me up. I'm still surprised they're talking about me. I was heavy for most of my life and have only been "skinny" for 2 years. I work for WW and keep a "before" picture and "before" pants so I can share and motivate.

How cool! I would love to start a new job where no one knew me at a new weight. That would be really neat. Everyone where I work has ONLY known me as fat and that sucks. I'm going to look weird to them when to me I'll finally look normal again.

I feel the same way you do with the mind tricks sometimes. I feel like I wear a sign on my head that says, "I don't really weigh this. I stepped out of the fat suit for a day."

The last time I was ever thin (went to WW before my wedding) was when I first moved here to Nebraska, it was right after my hubby and I got married and I started working as a bookkeeper at the local hospital. Everyone just knew me as me...an average sized woman. Then the unthinkable happened. NO WW meetings for miles and miles, I got home sick, got depressed, newly married, and the pounds packed on...pretty quickly. I have to say, people were pretty shocked. They didn't know what was happening to me. I was asked if I was expecting almost every day...finally I did get pregnant just so I could say YES...LOL (not really the reason, but I did get preggers during that time.) I finally told some people that I was a former fat girl, who lost weight and was on her way back up. That was so long ago no one even remembers the skinny me...They just remember me as the fat me, turned skinny. Now there is nowhere I could work in a 2 county area that doesn't know me as the fat girl who lost weight...LOL

Anyway, CONGRATS on the new job. knock'em dead.
