I never had winter "blues" like some people get, I actually love the winter, but I am in the Mid Atlantic we are getting HAMMERED this year....yep got out shoveled like heck 5000 times...etc...

I don't know just feeling like i should have lost more, should have more energy etc......

I've been supremely conscious recently that I used to use food to get through February. I've been grumpy much of the month without the overeating that I used to do. What's working best for me is sticking to my plan anyway (my worst days this month were when I slipped off plan), browsing and posting on 3FC, and workout videos. But I could use suggestions for how to improve my mood while I do that!

I am not losing very well at all. SInce early December I have not binged, cut our desserts, eaten smaller portions and exercised regularly, and have only lost 7 lbs. I am a bit blue about it. I KNOW I am gaining some muscle (I can see some definition) and this weighs more than fat, but I am discouraged.
I am getting out and cross-country skiing a lot in the snow, so am taking advantage of the winter that way.....
good luck,

Winter can be rough. Hard to get sunshine in, lots of time trapped inside...it can be so hard! Hang in there...it'll be sunnier soon!

I know you guys have been pounded in MD with the snow. Shoveling that much snow is enough to break your spirit. I have no advice but I can assure you, you're definitely not alone. I've had a terribly time staying on track since the holidays and with snow that never seems to end, it's really been difficult to get motivated. But don't worry. Spring will be here soon enough.

We're in the same boat. I'm in Northern Virginia so I understand.

Like you, I've never had winter blues; however, I am very much over this winter. It feels like the snow and cold will never end.

I want to go jogging around my neighborhood. I want to be outside in sundresses and flip flops. I don't want to wear coats and gloves anymore.

I'm sick of it!

Actually, I'm loving this. I got out yesterday and walked up and down my hill in 2 feet of snow. It's a most awesome workout! But I know I'm not the norm.

I've been wondering if our bodies are a bit like bears. Are we meant to store fat in the winter? There are so many people hitting plateaus right now or just not losing very much weight, me included. And that's despite the best of efforts.

Yep - winter is a killer. I moved down south to get away from it. I used to get so depressed by Feb-Mar. But, walking in the snow and shoveling IS good exercise. Although you lost "only" 9 lbs, that's 9 lbs less than you weighed before. That's much more than I've lost in ages so cheers to you-you're actually ahead of the game. The days are already getting longer so it won't be long now before it's Spring!

the weather patterns have been so strange this year. I think every state has had some snow. Here in NYC its been cold but only 2 major snow storms, both within the past week. There have been major storms all around us, but for a while it was like the city was in some kind of bubble.I cant say I've been very good about getting 2 the gym but I'm still losing, just a little slower.

I have the winter blues... Always did! I just cant lose weight during the winter... all what I do is crave carbs and feel SO tired I can barely move.
I get very depressed during the winter... I am talking vitamin D3 now to see if I get better. I want to join the gym to get me out of the house.

Then as soon as spring comes I am a different person! I walk every day for over a hour pushing a heavy stroller.
