Default Detoxing after the holidays.. and feeling ill?

So, not surprisingly, I overdid it over the holidays. I weighed myself yesterday morning and was up 1 lb. I honestly thought it would be way more, but I think that's one of the benefits of the "slowly but surely" method of weight loss... less fluctuation than if I had a more drastic diet....

anyway, due to this week long food extravaganza, i've decided to go on somewhat of a detox this week before new years...only whole foods, no breads or pasta (even whole grain) or sweets, basically my diet is consisting of veggies, fruits, lean protein, water, and tea. Since i've been doing this, i've had somewhat of a headache the past few days, and sometimes a little nausea. any of you guys ever experience this? Also, last night was my first time back at the gym in over a week (spin class), and boy, was it noticeable. But it's only been 8 days! How could I have gotten that out of shape in a little over a week!?!

When I first changed my eating habits in April of this year I had a horrible headache that lasted for several days or a week. It was awful and I figured it was from the drastic change I'd made to my diet and the lack of caffeine etc.

I'm sorry you feel ill. I hope you feel better soon.

I've occasionally felt a little of that and usually take it as a sign to A) eat, and B) that maybe I've cut too many carbs and I try to get a few more in there within reason.

I have no medical knowledge or expertise in this, just personal experience.

Are you tracking your carbs? You may be going too low. But fruits usually have a good amount of carbs in them. Also are you drinking enough water and eating enough? When you low carb you should always eat when you feel hungry. So you might be counting 1300 calories but since you are eating so little carb if you are still hungry I suggest eating a bit more.

For me, more than minor headaches are usually about caffeine withdrawal.

I second plenty of water.

My stomach still feels weird, but slowly returning to normal.

About the exercise, I found after being off for 8 days it's very noticeable, *but* it comes back to you fast.

I tend to get headaches and feel nauseous when I haven't had enough carbs. I have no idea why, but I can just tell when I need bread or a cracker or something.

Yeah... I pulled the nose up yesterday, after having Peanut M&Ms for breakfast.
Yes, for breakfast. I decided to do some weights and a walk, and let me tell you - about halfway through the weights, I wanted to barf.
Today, I had an egg, the teensiest bit of ham and a tiny biscuit for breakfast.
Lesson learned.

We'll all feel better soon. Water. Yoga. Turkey on whole wheat. YAY!
