According to this, I have a medium frame size, and being 5'8 and 167, I'm an ideal weight! My ideal weight is 154-169lbs. Interesting...according to the BMI, my healthy weight is between 122 and 164, lol.
That calculator told me that I was underweight - lol !!
I weighed 135 most of my high school and college days, so I'd really like to weigh that again, but it's really hard for me to stay that weight. 140 is "easier".
I saw this calculator and I think it's pretty good. It works for me at least:
For every inch over 5 ft. tall that you are, multiply that number by 5 and add 100.
I'm 5'7", so that's 7 times 5 = 35 + 100 = 135, my ideal weight

Oh crud! I need to lose another 8 pounds then. LOL
I see a lot of girls my height with much lower goal weights than mine...(or already a lower weight) and I wonder if they will/do have any boobs left... Mine are GONE!
Sometimes I think I want to get to 133 so I can say I lost 200 pounds, but 143 is extremely hard for me to maintain so I don't want to even put myself through it at this time. Heck, I couldn't even maintain 200 pounds at one time so I sure have doubts that I could maintain any lower than I am. Maintaining any weight is hard...I've never been able to do it for more than a few months....until now. So we'll see. It is definitely the hardest part of the journey so far.
ETA: I forgot to tell how I chose my number...well, I just kept going until a size 6 fit very comfortably...

Yup.
I picked 130 because I maintained there in the past without any major effort, just "generally trying to eat healthy" and working out a few times a week.
But I don't know what will be my final weight. I'm close to 130 now, but haven't been exercising, so I'm not fit anymore - so I'm about the same size as I was in early spring 2009 with 4 more pounds but fit.
So at this point, it's just seeing what the scale does when I'm fit again, but I'm not trying to choose a particular number.
Hi!
I'm aiming for 105 lbs. I'm currently 116 lbs, so I have 11 pounds to go. It's these last 11 pounds that are going SO SLOWLY!!! It's so annoying! I exercise every day, try to eat healthy. Oh! I keep changing my number. Trying to find a weight that I will be happy with myself at. Hmph. I thought it would be 135, then 120... now I'm picking 105 lbs.
To be honest, mine was just a bit of a guess... I never want to be skinny because I like feminine curves and I can't imagine the thought of losing my boobs and bum.. That made the 110s and 120s out of the question. I'm sure I'll end up changing mine when I find a weight I'm perfectly comfortable with -but for now it's a number I'm getting closer to.
I’m aiming for 133lbs because I think it seems like a good weight for me. I’m naturally very curvy and I want to keep my curves so I don’t want to get too thin and I just seem to think 133 would be good. I’m not really completely sure why. But I definitely think that I will re-evaluate this once I reach 133 and may aim for a different weight then. But I’ll see how it goes.

That’s an interesting formula. According to that my ideal weight is 115 – I think I’d be too thin at that weight but since I’ve never been there I can’t be sure of that. Like I say, I’m going to head for 133 and then see what I feel like then.
I chose 120 because I started gaining weight in high school when I was 16. And I was 130 at the time. Though I was nowhere near fat at the time, I was a little chubby.
120, at my height, is within a normal BMI. 115 lbs is, too. But if I'm unable to maintain my weight at 115 lbs, I will be happy with 120 lbs, too.
I've decided my goal weight by my past, what I know I've been able to achieve, and what the charts say. I believe for my height, I'm supposed to be 155 max, but the lightest I've ever been was 159 ( which at that time was a huge success since I hadn't ever been under 175).

Did your doctor approve that? According to healthy weight charts, the lowest healthy weight for 5'4" is 114 pounds. That would mean that at 105 you would be considered underweight.
There are always exceptions though, certain people that would still be healthy at a lower weight, but in those kinds of cases I'd imagine I'd feel better if I had the doctor's approval first.
You know, are you toning at all? I know that I still look fat without clothes on now, but that's because I'm kind of skinny fat. Like I have a lot of stomach fat, etc., but it's not that I need to keep losing until it's gone, it's that I really need to tone. Like my goal is 145, but once I get there if I'm not happy, instead of trying to lose more, I think it'd be healthier to try toning. Maybe you should try that before you go to a weight that is actually underweight. Just a thought! It's your body though, so do what you feel is right.
A healthy weight range for someone who is 5'8" is 120-165 depending on your build and other individual factors. I would suggest that you google "cdc bmi calculator" and click on the link to the CDC's bmi calculator. It allows you to go to fractions/decimals in your weight and height. Also, it provides a comparison to other people your age and height, your "bmi for age". If it says that your weight is at the 42nd percentile, that means 42% of people your age and height weigh less than you while 58% of people your age and height weigh more than you. Hope this helps!

Huh, it doesn't give me anything but straight BMI. No percentile for age.
Would love to add something helpful, but I still don't know. I'm in that "not" place of having not been obese, I carry a lot of muscle and can almost add it at will ... but I do really like not having my doctor add that second weight over 150. So ... I want to get well under 150, with a good-size heavy set of bones, and being 42. Dunno where the final number could end up, but I hope to be around 143 by this time next year.
Well, I knew that 105 or even 120 would be too thin for me now. I used to look obese when I was 19 and weight 150 lbs. I am 41 3/4 years old. My body, luckily, has distributed my weight better and therefore I can hold more weight and still look good. Ten years ago I lost 50 lbs and kept it off for 7 years. I was 145 and looked pretty good, but needed just a couple more off. So, I figure 135 would be a good goal that would keep me from looking gaunt and thus, older.
I think it is very important to realize that your body changes with age and to make this a factor when choosing a healthy goal weight.
At first I was shooting for 140 pounds, but I decided on 160 pounds which, while technically overweight, is a good weight for me I believe based on my body frame size(cusp between medium and large!) and the fact that I have incredibly dense bones. Trainer says 140 pounds would require me to lose some muscle and bone density, which is stuff I want to keep!
I based mine on my height and bmi. Im 5'1'' and should be between 97lbs - 133lbs. So I think 125 is pretty good... Plust that was my jr high and 1/2 of high school weight.
