Default Winter Blues

Now that the cold weather has settled in, my motivation has checked out. I loved going out every morning walking/jogging, and experiencing spring, summer, and fall. Now that it's winter I've started eating more and moving less. In the past month I've gained 3 pounds.... that's how it starts isn't it?

I am a recovering binger, and a lot of things have been going wrong in my life lately. Food is my first comfort and I'm afraid I've fallen off the wagon and binged more than I want to. I've stopped calorie counting and working out everyday. What can I do to respark my focus?

I know, the shorter days can be a drag too, and holidays have their stressful moments. plus, it's such a food focused time. go easy on yourself.

for me, sometimes blanking out and getting back into a routine can help. after even one day back on eating plan, or having done my exercise, my brain can feel much better and on track.

winter has it's own loveliness, the snow, the clear air, the blue, blue sky.

I would try just focusing on one day. Today. Can you do an workout DVD or something? I bet that youtube has workout videos if you don't own any. That way, you're not going the same thing everyday. I get not wanting to go outside--it's cold!

Cleaning can be a good workout--clean the house! You'll burn calories and you'll have a clean house--and you'll feel better about both of those things, which might help your energy and your focus!

And of course, come to the binge-free challenge in the Chicks in Control forum!

Winter blues...hits me every year. Days are short, dark, cold, and snowy. I want to just curl up and sleep. I call it a form of hibernation. Sleep more, eat more, and wait for spring.

But not this winter. I have my SAD light on in the mornings, do housework, then leave for the gym! DH takes it a step father, and he runs 6 miles, 4 to 5 times a week, outside. IN Alaska. On the snow covered bike path. I think he's crazy, but he's loving it. It helps, having him motivated, to keep me motivated.

Maybe find a work-out partner, or at least a buddy, to share stories with. I find that helps keep me in line, as I get a little competitive and like to keep up with who ever I'm working out with. Left on my own, I'm not as accountable as I am with another person.
