Yeah, me too. It really stinks -- but it did help me get over a case of denial.

But it points out how clueless people can be, even those who are trying to help.

Ugh. I'm sorry. Try being me though. Everyone who knows I recently had a baby (small town) will ask "How old is the little one now?" He's 8 months old, and usually when they ask me these questions he's at home with daddy. Then they immediately look down at my stomach!! Like, they're thinking 'Shouldn't she of lost more by now?!" Ugh it's so embarrasing. It's as though, they want to ask me.....'are you expecting again?' That's really how I feel.
So, don't feel so bad it happens to a lot of people. If you've had a baby or not.

I'm so sorry that happened! People can be so unkind : ( After my son (baby #3) was born I was right back to my prebaby weight, then had my gall bladder removed and lost even more weight. About 6 months later I had gained almost 75lbs. I walked my girls to school and activities around town and my darling husband (now my ex!) told me one day that people at church had seen me out walking with the kids and wanted to know when number 4 was due. Double whammy there, since my ex wasn't kind enough to keep it to himself!

That's only happened to me once in my entire life. My husband (at the time) and I were in Home Depot buying paint and plywood, etc., and I was helping him load the car and a man walked by and told him, very nastily, "you shouldn't let your wife be doing that in her condition!" My ex was a tool so the horror of being mistaken for being pregnant was actually overruled by the hilarity of having this nice stranger jump on his case like that, heh. And, I was wearing a really baggy shirt that day...I just can't imagine what makes people think it's OK to comment on ANY aspect of ANYONE'S appearance EVER unless they are making a genuine compliment. I mean, really.

A friend of mine has a rule: only mention a pregnancy if you can see the baby being pushed out.

Right Clara.

Ugh, people are SO rude. This has never happened to me because I get fat all over, not just in the belly, haha. But its happened to my sister a few times. Don't ever comment on someones pregnancy unless they tell you they're pregnant!

In all fairness I have a question!

I happen to think most of the styles out right now make ANY woman look preggo--not to mention anyone who might be the teensiest overweight. Honestly, I put on so many of the newer styles and they scream MOTHERHOOD MATERNITY to me.

What were you wearing? Anything that could have lent itself to that?

ETA---it is plain 'ole STUPID to ask a lady that question or make comments as such. The styles I am referring to are the ones that are fitted across the bust and then FLAIR beneath the bust line---many blouses are made this way--many dresses too.

I had an unstable lady From a local resident home follow me around a yard sale starring at me and kept asking me when was I due? You are pregnant aint you?I think you need maternity Pants and tops and they don't have any here...So I went to another yard sale(it was yard sale day in our community) Anyways 2 older ladies Asked if I was pregant Also?
I had lost about 50 lbs at the time....So I was pissed off~I thought I was looking pretty good compared to the before me but It all passed and SO FAR Noone else has asked me that question Or assumed I was~So Just ignore them~I just wonder how many people I have thought to be pregnant that wasn't LOL!
I hope none~That would suck.

Anyways~your not alone~HUGS!!!
