Default "How to weigh" "Daily fluxuation" etc -- real life example!

I'm a data nerd (and a physicist) so of course I track EVERYTHING I can But there are often so many questions about how people count losses and about people worrying about daily fluctuations I though I would share my actual data.

I'm posting my weekly (aka "official") weight loss, as well as the daily numbers I keep track of just because I can . Any time you see a straight horizontal line in the daily graph it's because I didn't have daily numbers for that. I didn't write down my daily numbers for the first few weeks, and last week I was out of town at a conference so wasn't able to weigh daily.

I like these sorts of graphs because I can see how my body reacts. The daily chart tells me what a high-sodium dinner might do to me. The weekly chart shows me how my TOM can influence the weight loss I'm seeing on the scale.

Enjoy, and if you have your own data to share, please do!

I noticed you are a physicist? Do you ever watch that comedy The Big Bang Theory? Its super hilarious, and they are all physicists on there. If you have the time, you should check it out. It comes on CBS on Monday nights at 8:30 central time.

You know, you're not the first one to tell me that it's funny... I really should try it out. A guy in my lab is always telling me to watch it!

I'll take a look for it. Maybe I'll be lucky and it'll be on Hulu -- then I can catch up and watch them all!!

Great charts

I second the motion to watch the Big Bang Theory. That show is hysterical. Definitely a must see for us geeks.

I Love that show. I am not a physicist, but find physics very interesting. I'm more of a biology major. I always try to find it when I'm watching tv, but I don't know what time it comes on.

No one has any data to share? Oh well -- I guess I'll just have to go watch some Big Bang Theory...

I posted my "numbers geek" weight loss method in another post so you're definitely not alone. But I take calorie deficit and keep my running average above 1167 for a theoretical weight loss of 1 lb. every three days.

Hmm, and I dated a nuclear physicist and smile a lot while watching BBT.

Haha! I have THOSE graphs, too! (GoWear Fit user.)

But if I posted ALL of my graphs people might think I had a problem... But the habits of 8 years of post-graduate work are hard to break!!

I'll go find your thread and check out your numbers
