What is the best time to weigh yourself?
Today I weighed myself 15 minutes after I woke up. I weighed 128.5 (which has been same for the last 3 weeks) . I had breakfast went to the gym came back and weighed myself again and I weighed 126.4.
I'm confused now. When should I weigh myself?

The best time is.... the same time every day. haha, no but it is that simple. I weigh myself once a day, every day. I wake up, have my morning pee and then hop on. I've heard it's the most accurate.
As a side note... You could have been slightly dehydrated after the work-out and showed a couple pounds low.

first thing in the morning, after trip to the loo, with no clothes. post workout and you will get a low number b/c of water weight lost, and later in the day what you eat and drink will make number higher

After a big binge fully clothed with combat boots on....at least that is when my husband weighs himself. (he's a weirdo )
I believe the best time to weigh myself is once a week on Friday morning after my morning trip to the loo, and before my first cup of coffee....no more, no less. That is the sacred number for the week. I take it or leave it, but I never redo it...not worth the aggravation!

As others have said, the idea is to be consistent. So pick a routine and stick with it. If you want to weigh yourself every day after the gym, that's fine. But if you don't go to the gym EVERY day and you want to weigh EVERY day, well, you see the problem -- it isn't consistent.
So most people would choose first thing in the morning, naked, dry, after the loo, after exhaling everything in your lungs, and with fingers crossed.

I weigh myself in the morning, but after I've done my morning routine and before I've eaten or done a workout.
If I'm obsessing, then well I weigh myself whenever and freak out as the numbers go up and down hahahaha.

I heard that crossing fingers engages muscles that should be at rest and makes you weigh a little more.

I weigh myself like 10 times a day and have found that the morning, after using the potty, and having no clothes on will produce the lowest number. However, I also go to a weekly weight-loss support group where I weigh-in at 6:30pm with clothes on. I take that as my official number because I figure it's going to be the long haul that shows the real results.

Thanks for the replies. Oh im sad now. I thought i was 126
Well hopefully soon I could weigh 126 in the morning after the potty.
I'll probably pick once a week and weigh myself in the morning from now on. (Thats if I can stop myself )

IMHO there is no such thing as a "best" time.
Seriously what do 2lbs mean in the big scheme of life?
You've already gone so far!
Keep it up, don't give the "magic numbers" power over you and you'll eventually get to your goal weight.
Good luck

I WAS weighing myself every day and it made me CRAZY because I would see it fluctuate. I always weighed half asleep first thing in the morning after going to the "loo" (I never use that word but I liked reading it here). I would even weigh myself after going to workout in the morning having not eaten ANYTHING but maybe some coffee and water and even making a second trip to the loo...more then pee if you know what I mean....Anywhoooo...I decided to stop that routine and for the last 3 weeks have weighed only once on Friday mornings....Yesterday I was so close to goal so for whatever reason I was IMPELLED to step on the scale again this morning. Glad I did... I REACHED MY GOAL!!! Now I will reset my mind, only weigh on Fridays and try to reach a new goal...to get to 125lbs. Wish me luck!!!

Thanks, for me it's more like "reach goal REDUX", as I was previously below goal for quite a while then backslid about 15 pounds and have been trying to get those off (again!) and back under goal. Ahhh, lesson learned!
